Electric trucks continue to make waves in the transportation industry. Amazon furthered efforts to decarbonize its transportation operations with news that Montreal-based Lion Electric will deliver 10 Class 6 battery-electric vehicles to the e-commerce giant. Meanwhile, Mack Trucks announced it had delivered its heavy-duty LR Electric demonstration model to the New York City Department of Sanitation, which will put it through rigorous, real-world trials collecting refuse. Not to be outdone, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, a unit of Daimler Trucks, announced that series production of its heavy-duty battery-electric eActros model, intended for distribution applications, is scheduled to start in 2021.
