On November 10, 2019 Evo Morales, the first indigenous president of Bolivia, was forced to resign in a U.S. backed, far-right coup. What's followed has been waves of murder and violence against indigenous protesters.

Additionally, we look back at the anti-WTO demonstrations commonly known as "The Battle of Seattle".

Remembering Victor Jara

Travelogue Media takes a moment to remember the life of the slain folk singer Victor Jara. Jara was one of the first victims of General Agosto Pinchet's brutal military regime in Chile (1973-1990).

Every year around this time I get very excited to prepare a special edition of the podcast for International Podcast Day. As I was looking for some ideas, I checked out some of the videos from last year's livestream. Podcasters from all around the world presenting their insights and experiences in podcasting: building community, promoting culture, having conversations, and learning as they go. This is what's really exciting about this unique form of communication. International Podcast Day offers us a great way to connect, learn, and share.

Dance is a way to reclaim the space of your body when that space has been taken from you. It is a way for you to heal. It's a way for you to acknowledge your power, to get back into your body when you've had to disassociate from it to survive.

Alma Dance founder Heather Robles stopped by the Travelogue Media studio in Quetzaltenango during her Guatemala trip with Suzzanne Ponomarenko Dance. She spoke about working with Caras Alegres and Hogar Temporal, the healing powers of dance, and her experience as a birth doula.

Street art in Esteli, Nicaragua painted over by protesters.

A community development worker, who requested that her real name not be used, shared her experience living and working in Nicaragua. "Lauren" spoke about the "dictabuena", the legacy of the Sandinista revolution, feminism, and the political unrest in April last year that prompted her to leave the country.

The taxi driver told me that one of the boys...I think he was 19... who was killed in Esteli, his father had been one of the Sandinista soldiers who had liberated Daniel Ortega from prison. And the taxi driver told me basically Daniel Ortega repaid this man by killing his son. He was killed with a sniper. That same driver told me, I'm a Sandinista and I believe in freedom and equality and not having one landowner own the entire country, but instead dividing it amongst the laborers. But I am NOT a Danielista. And so I think that Nicaraguans do believe in co-operativism and working together, and always together is better.
