There is nothing in this world that rules over us as much as our feelings. In Psalm 46:10 starts off with instructions from God. He tells us to “be still, and know that I am God…”, but how many of us struggle to do that? Those two words seem so easy, yet they require so much from us. Be still. With the pressures of today, the demands on our schedules and the race for success, for many of us, being still, is not an option. But when God gives us a command, He is not ASKING us to do something, He is TELLING us to do it, and with good reason. We must stop obeying the parts of scriptures that we like and ignoring other parts. Yes, we acknowledge that He is God but for we must be still in order to do so. If someone were to ask you, “what’s something you use every day?” most of us would undoubtedly say “our phones”. During the 1800s America experienced a phenomenon that would change our daily society forever, this occurrence in history is known as the industrial revolution. Since then there have been so many inventions that have come to make our lives easier but we both know that along with this shift in society also came the downside of it. Today, we have apps for everything, we are so connected to our technology that we have forgotten how to have human connection with one another. The good news is we don’t have to give up our technology in order to have a relationship with God, we just need a balance. In the world that we live in there seems to be a shortage of many things; employees, patience, supplies etc. Inflation is higher than ever, and so is the anxiety of many people. If you’re feeling the strain of our society today perhaps you have diverted your attention away from the true solution. Most of our prayers are based on us and not God. If we serve a God who is IMPOSSIBLE then why do we limit our prayers to just the possible? It’s our experiences in life that have limited our vision of what God can do. It’s caused us to minimize what we believe for. Life has a way of belittling our prayers to match our natural experiences. Perhaps we should have child-like faith. That kind of faith doesn’t consider any of those factors. It simply BELIEVES!
