Join us as we conclude our discussion on the Sixth Commandment in this episode. Part one originally aired on July 22, 2026, and in that episode we explored what Scripture teaches about just and unjust killing, addressing abortion and its various cultural arguments, the government’s God-given authority in just warfare and capital punishment, the legitimacy of home and self-defense, and the ethical questions surrounding IVF.
In this episode, we turn to the personal and often painful topics of suicide, euthanasia, end-of-life decisions such as DNR orders, and the challenges that come with terminal diagnoses and treatment options. We also consider overlooked implications of this commandment, such as how preserving life includes cultivating healthy habits and honoring our bodies as God’s temple rather than treating them like a junkyard.
Join Pastors Pfannerstill, Hacker, Dufek, and Best as they continue part two of the Sixth Commandment and reflect on the value of human life on this episode of TreasureCast. After you watch or listen, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Email us at [email protected] with questions, feedback, or suggestions for future episodes.

At Woodridge Community Church, community groups are where discipleship becomes discipleship becomes practicing the biblical one‑anothers. In this episode, we explore why these groups matter, how they help us proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and treasure Christ above all, and how biblical counseling fits naturally into everyday Christian relationships. Community groups aren’t just weekly meetings, they’re discipleship epicenters where the sermon is discussed, applied, sin is confessed, burdens are carried, counsel is given and received and Christ is treasured together.

Go and treasure Christ above all!
Thou shalt not murder! A seemingly straightforward command to follow… right? Wrong. At least not in our culture, where murder often goes unpunished and certain forms of it are even celebrated. Why is this commandment so widely ignored, both in society and, at times, even within the church?
Most people agree that the obvious forms of murder driven by anger or malice are evil. But what about the ways people attempt to justify other forms of taking human life, such as intentional abortion or even unintentional abortions? Is all murder wrong? And what about killing? Does Scripture distinguish between the two?
Join Pastors Pfannerstill, Hacker, Dufek, and Best as they dig into part one of the Sixth Commandment and explore why Christians must value human life on this episode of TreasureCast. After you watch or listen, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Email us at [email protected] with questions, feedback, or suggestions for future episodes.
Why does it seem that our nation is under judgment, and why does it no longer “go well in the land” as God promises to those who walk in His ways? What is happening in the United States that makes us feel the weight of sin, confusion, and unraveling authority structures?
“Honor thy father and thy mother” is a phrase that lives rent‑free in many of our minds, surfacing whenever we think about family or instruct our children. But what makes this commandment unique, and why is it placed where it is in the Ten Commandments? Did it expire with the old covenant, or does it still shape Christian families today? And do its implications reach beyond the nuclear family into the fabric of society itself?
Join Pastors Pfannerstill, Hacker, and Best as they explore the Fifth Commandment and its far‑reaching significance on this episode of TreasureCast. After you watch or listen, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Email us at [email protected] with questions, feedback, or suggestions for future episodes.

Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. (ESV). Ephesians 6:1–3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” (ESV). Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. (ESV).
General Meaning - To honor someone is to regard them with high respect and esteem, recognizing their worth, achievements, or moral integrity. This can include verbal praise, public acknowledgment, or gestures that demonstrate appreciation and admiration for the person’s contributions or character (Merriam-Webster).
Religious Perspective - In religious contexts, such as in the Bible, to honor someone means to value them
highly and show esteem, particularly toward parents, elders, or those in
authority. This can involve obedience, respect, and acknowledgment of their
role or position, reflecting both moral and spiritual principles
(GotQuestions.org).

Go and treasure Christ above all!
Summer is the time for leisure activities like various sport camps, dance camps, and VBS camps in our communities. Putting our kids in these pursuits can honor God. But how often do we encourage our children to grow in their love for something God has explicitly commanded His people to do? If God commands us to sing praise to Him, then built into that command is the expectation that we learn how to sing and understand the music that accompanies our singing. Music literacy was born in the church, and it is time for it to return to the church.
The Rehearsing Truth Music Camp gives kids ages 5–18 the opportunity to gain experience in singing, music theory, folk dancing, and even enjoy fun outdoor games and activities. Our staff includes five trained music teachers, supported by parent volunteers, all working together to prepare our young men and women to become leaders of music in a culture that often treats music merely as entertainment or background noise.

We’re back with another episode of Ask the Pastors, where we unpack the questions you’ve emailed to us. In this episode, we explore the implications of the following:
Woodridge members and pastors have been shaped by a variety of paedobaptists (e.g., Calvin, Luther, Sproul, Ryle). What has kept you a Baptist?
Besides the Bible, what is one book you would recommend for every church member or attendee—and why?
In what ways is the commandment to remember the Sabbath applicable to Christians?
What do you think about Christian kids having crushes?
Join Pastors Erdman, Jantz, Best, and Hacker as they dig into these questions on this episode of the TreasureCast. After you watch or listen, we’d love to hear your thoughts—email us at [email protected] with questions, feedback, or suggestions for future episodes.

Technology is inescapable. Some of it is helpful and easy to understand; other parts are complex or even dangerous. But in today’s culture, there’s simply no avoiding it. It surrounds us and is woven into nearly everything we do. We live in an age of rapidly advancing tools, and the newest pinnacle of that innovation is something called artificial intelligence (AI).
Because Scripture doesn’t speak directly to AI, Christians are left asking an important question: How do we treasure Christ in a world that increasingly treasures technology? Are these tools neutral? Should believers begin using them regularly?

Go and treasure Christ above all!
The word contentment gets used frequently in today’s culture, but its meaning often shifts depending on who’s discussing it. So, what exactly is contentment? How does it connect to faith and trust? Should Christians seek contentment outside ourselves, or is the popular self-love movement the answer? Understanding contentment rightly as Christians is incredibly counter cultural and helps us take pleasure in God as we treasure Christ above all. Join Pastors John and Drew as they explore these questions and welcome a special guest who recently co-taught a class on contentment at Woodridge. We’d love to hear your thoughts–Email us at [email protected] with questions, feedback, or suggestions for future episodes.

Join Pastors John, Drew, Matt E., and Rich as they discuss questions submitted over the course of the TreasureCast in this new “Ask the Pastors” style podcast.
The questions that are addressed in this episode include:
- Should Christians fast, and if so, how should we do it?
- What is gambling? Is it sinful for Christians to gamble or place bets? Are all forms of gambling the same across card games, sports games, or fantasy football leagues?
- At Woodridge, we celebrate three of the five evangelical feast days. Why don’t we celebrate Ascension and Pentecost?
Join us in this discussion as we take these questions head-on, see what scripture says, and go down some fun glory trails in the process! We’d love to hear your thoughts–Email us at [email protected] with questions, feedback or suggestions for future episodes.
