Have you seen a tree get blown over and uprooted –or even removed by a large machine? This feat requires immense force, because it has roots that act like anchors, reaching deep into the soil. Roots are good in their ability to anchor and provide nourishment. But there is another kind of root that can anchor itself and provide unhealthy nourishment to our souls; the root of bitterness. If left to grow, this bitter root can cause sin to cascade and escalate in our lives. It can destroy the church, our relationships, and negatively impact our ability to treasure Christ above all.
In this episode of the TreasureCast, Pastors Derek, Matt, John and Drew discuss the topic “Preventing Roots of Bitterness.” They discuss the damage that bitterness causes and the other sins it can lead to. But for the Christian, there is hope –they also lead us to the remedy that exists in God’s Word so we can starve and uproot these roots of bitterness in our lives.

Go and treasure Christ above all!
What happens when we die? It’s a question our culture often avoids—and one many Christians feel unsure how to approach. But Scripture gives us clarity, hope, and a reason not to fear.
In this episode, Pastors John, Drew, Matt, and Luke tackle the topic of death head-on. From funerals vs. celebrations of life, to burial vs. cremation, to questions of Christian liberty—this conversation explores how believers can think biblically and faithfully about end-of-life decisions. Most importantly, we reflect on the hope Christians have in the resurrection and the victory of Christ over the grave.

When we look around at the culture in America, as Christians we often reel back in shock and horror at the practices happening around us—especially in how the world approaches dating and its close relative, “hook-up culture.” It seems like a free-for-all, with little to no oversight outside the church—and sometimes even within it. As Christians, we cannot accept the world’s approach to dating. But what should we do? How should we view relationships with the opposite sex before marriage? Should we date? Should we do something else, like courting? And what exactly is courting? Join Pastors Rich, Matt, and Drew as they delve into the topic of dating and courting from a biblical perspective. They explore some of the history behind these practices and discuss who should be involved in the process. We value your feedback and suggestions on this episode and future episodes. Go and treasure Christ above all!
God created man in his image, and He made us to work in different ways as men and women. Work is what we do primarily to provide for ourselves or others that we are in some way responsible for. But what about the time we spend not working? What are we supposed to do during this “play,” “leisure,” or “hobby” time? What type of activities can and should the Christian engage in? Are there things that Christians should avoid, and if so, why? Join Pastors Erdman, Jantz and Hacker as they take a deeper dive into one of the subjects that was taught at our 2025 Restoring Truth Conference. We value your feedback and suggestions on this episode and future episodes. Email us at [email protected].

What has no shape, no scent, no sound... but you always feel it in the room? Nope—not gravity you physics nerds. Emotional sabotage! Join Pastors Jantz, Erdman, John and Drew as they discuss how leadership and emotional sabotage are intricately related to one another and have been since the beginning of creation. They use Joe Rigney’s book, Leadership and Emotional Sabotage,” as a platform for the discussion. They discuss how the devil will often try to destroy leadership in a pattern used across all of scripture, along with ways that we can “resist the anxiety that will wreck your family, destroy your church, and ruin the world.” We value your feedback and suggestions on this episode and future episodes. Go and treasure Christ above all!
When we look at how the early church began in Acts chapter 2—devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching, breaking bread together in each other’s homes, and sharing with those in need—it can seem like an impossible ideal in today's world. In this episode, Pastors Drew and Matt discuss what it means to live in Christian community and how our church fosters this through Community Groups. Together, they explore how these groups help believers grow in faith, be discipled, and live out the Bible's commands in everyday life —commands that are impossible to fulfill alone.

Go and treasure Christ above all!
Many of us are aware, especially if you attend Woodridge, that God commands singing from His people. However, that statement encompasses more than just singing on Sunday morning. Singing to God implies that we know how to sing. Or do we?
Join Pastors John and Drew in this episode as they discuss the topic of music, singing, and the Christian life. They are joined by Woodridge member and DOXA Christian Academy music teacher, Elijah Grajkowski. Together, they explore how being saved by the grace of God should change us as Christians to be hearers and doers of music. They discuss the need to repent for minimizing the importance of singing or outright ignoring this command. Additionally, they examine select passages that highlight the significance of music and singing and conclude with practical steps to grow in musical literacy and enthusiastic singing.

Join Pastors John and Drew in this episode as they discuss how education has been influenced by secularism and progressivism over the last several hundred years. They interview special guests and classical educators, Pastor Joel Ebert and Elijah Grajkowski. They talk about the origins of education in America, where it went wrong, and how that differs from a classical view of education. They also discuss the classical Christian school housed in our church, DOXA Christian Academy, where Elijah and Joel both teach, along with the hybrid approach to education they use at DOXA. They talk about “The Trivium” and other helpful concepts they are teaching and more! You don’t want to miss this episode on education. Join Pastors John and Drew in this episode as we discuss the origins of our collaborative conference, Restoring Truth, between Woodridge and Waukesha City Church, along with a summary of last year’s topics. We provide a longer sneak peek at some topics to expect at this year’s Restoring Truth Conference in May 2025. We talk with Woodridge’s own Pastor Luke and Pastor Chuck Marshall from Waukesha City Church, who were both instrumental in the origins of this collaborative conference between our two churches. They discuss some terms that can often be misunderstood and are worth discussing more regarding the civil sphere, family, and church. We value your feedback and suggestions on this episode and future episodes. Email us at [email protected].
