Treasured Truth

Some churches today reject new ideas. They refuse to break tradition and resist change, because they are repulsed by the unfamiliar. But Pastor Ford says we have to learn to launch out into the deep! We have to trust the Lord to begin to do some things on our behalf. And we need Christians who are willing to sail into some uncharted waters.

In honor of Father’s Day coming up this weekend, Pastor Ford begins to challenge men to be “men on the wall.” Today, he will describe how John the Baptist didn’t believe in gray areas. For him, it was black or white and he didn’t care who you were, he’d get up in your face and say, "Thus sayeth the Lord!" And that’s what we need today—if you’re going to be a man on the wall, then you can’t be mealy-mouthed, you can’t be namby-pamby, and wishy-washy. You have to stand on the truth in God’s Word!

Abraham learned Who God is by what he went through.  He learned that God is the answer. But just like Abraham, we have to be given a problem so that we can discover all that God is.  So to Abraham, God became Jehovah-Jireh.  And if we go through the problem that we are given, what we’ll find is that God reveals His name to us according to what we need.

Today we’ll see how, as part of being Jehovah-Jireh to us, God puts stuff where we can get it, when we need it, even when we don’t know that we need it.  He then reveals His provision to us at just the right time—when we’re ready to receive it.
