Treasured Truth

Just like a shepherd goes before his sheep to lead them, God goes before His children and leads them in the paths He has for them.  So today, Pastor Ford will share about how this simple phrase from Psalm 23—“He goes before”—holds so much meaning for believers.

We don’t have to love what God is doing, but we do have to trust what He’s doing.  As God leads us, He sometimes makes us lie down (metaphorically), just like a shepherd would make his sheep lie down.  Why?  Because He’s able to give us things when we’re lying down that we won’t be able to receive when we’re standing up.

What does it mean when the Psalmist says, “He maketh me to lie down”?  God has a special plan for each of us and sometimes that involves making us to stop, lie down, and rest in green pastures.  Find out more about what this means on today’s Treasured Truth.

Today we’ll see how the gospel message is so clear, even as it’s seen within the nuances found in Psalm 23.  And Pastor Ford will remind us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, to redeem us from our sin.

Do you run to anybody other than the Lord?  Because He’s the only One Who can help us.  And when life seems to present us with “what” problems—what’s going on in my life? This is going on, that’s going on in my life—we need to realize instead that we should have a ‘Who’ perspective.  And then we can say, “No matter what’s going on in my life, I know Who can deal with it.”

Grace saves us, shapes us, and then gives us the power to serve God. He gives us power to be able to do what we cannot do, so that He can use us to impact the lives of people and show them His grace. And because of His grace, we need to make sure He gets the glory out of our lives.

We’ll see today how the Lord leads his children, just like a shepherd leads his sheep.  And if the Lord truly is our shepherd, and we have committed to follow Him, then we can be confident that He will give us everything that we need.

As we continue to work our way through the beginning of Psalm 23 with Pastor Ford, he will explain the significance of the names that the Psalm’s author, King David, used to refer to God and what that significance means for us, even today.
