Today we take a break from our normal programming line up so Pastor Ford can answer your questions about the Bible and the Christian life.  The topics he’ll be explaining include how to deal biblically with situations that require church discipline and if it’s ever okay for a believer to date a non-believer.

Do you have circumstances that you want to see changed?  Are you suffering and do you want it to be over?  Are you bound in sin and want to be free?  Pastor Ford explains today that God’s word says He has given us the tool of fasting as a resource to help set us free from the things that bind us.

On today’s Treasured Truth, Pastor Ford tells us that fasting is a resource for spiritual victory in our lives.   It can help us overcome overwhelming problems, but it must be exercised according to God’s plan and not ours.

As we begin a new series of messages on fasting, Pastor Ford explains that fasting is a gateway to spiritual victory. God has given it to us to utilize when we have a burden, problem, or situation that is greater than we are.

As we learn the seventh reason why God gave us money, Pastor Ford will help us understand that part of showing our thankfulness to God is through sharing what we have with others.  He’ll point out that it’s the height of hypocrisy for congregations of believers to have any members who have needs that are not met.  Believers should be taking care of one another and meeting the needs of their brothers and sisters who are in need.

The most commonly known verse in the Bible is John 3:16—"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.” And it clearly states there that Jesus died for the whole world. But, Pastor Ford will explain today that only those who believe in Jesus will actually be the benificiaries of the salvation that verse describes.

If we look around us for what we need, then we look at the agents of the provision.  But when we look up, we look to source, which is God.  And He wants us to look at Him.  Therefore, He’s going to make sure that your family can’t help you, that your bank account can’t help you, or that your job can’t help you.  And He does that because sometimes, the only time we’ll look up to see Him as our source of everything, is when we’re lying flat on our backs.

God is faithful to supply everything that we need.  He sets us up to have everything necessary to make our journey very successful.  And He shows us His faithfulness by providing what we need over and over again.

We can have money, as long as our money doesn’t have us.  We can know that our money doesn’t have us when we give to God what He asks us to. And Pastor Ford will explain today that one of the symbols or indications of our commitment to God, is shown when we freely give Him our money.

Sometimes, even Christians forget that we can never serve God and money.  But today, Pastor Ford will explain us that it’s our God-given responsibility to serve God with our money.  See, the world ask us how much did you have?  And God will ultimately ask us, what did you do with it?
