Treasured Truth

It doesn’t matter what you’re going through when Jesus has the power to overcome anything.  If you’ve been left out, put out, or burnt out, Jesus can work it out for you.  Remember, if He can turn water into wine, then He can choose to work a miracle in your life too.

At the wedding in Cana, Jesus performed his first recorded miracle and turned water into wine.  We have some instances in our lives where we want Jesus to work on our behalf and turn our water into wine.  How does that happen?  How can we get Jesus to turn our water into wine?  Find out more as Pastor Ford teaches about this and much more on today's Treasured Truth.

Pastor Ford points out that when we consider all that God is—His sovereignty, dignity, authority, mystery, superiority, pre-immanency, piety and majesty—but then we still think that we’re “all that and a bag of chips,” then there’s something wrong with our worship!

You may have heard the saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”  And this time of year, that really rings true for us as believers.  Christmas is not about “the what” we know.  Christmas is about “the Who” we know.  We don’t celebrate Christmas about “the what” of Christmas.  We celebrate Christmas about “the Who” of Christmas—Jesus Christ!

Do we really understand that worship is not a spectator sport, but rather it’s a participator sport?  Pastor Ford will remind us today that all of us need to be engaged in worship.

As we continue to consider the privilege of worship, Pastor Ford asks, “Where are those with the same mentality that David had when he wrote, ‘I would rather be a door keeper in the house of the Lord?’  Where are those who come into the Lord’s presence with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise? Where are those who are glad to be in worship?”

All of our praise belongs to God.  It’s custom-made for God.  It was designed for Him.  And He is the only One Who’s worthy of our praise.  So, Pastor Ford will remind us today that just the fact that we can come into God’s presence and give Him praise is truly a privilege for us.

Praise is fitted for God.  He’s the only One that deserves our praise.  He’s the only One that desires our praise. He’s the only One that demands our praise.  And He’s the only One that delights in our praise.  So, as we begin this study in Psalm 65, we’ll discover that God indicates we owe Him praise and that ultimately, it’s a privilege for us to be able to give Him that praise.

We should never blame God when we fall into temptation.  As a matter of fact, according to Pastor Ford, we shouldn’t blame the Devil or even blame the world.  Because our greatest enemy is not our external enemy, the world, and it’s not our infernal enemy, the Devil.  The greatest enemy is our internal enemy, the flesh.

What’s the definition of compassion?  Pastor Ford defines it this way:  Your pain in my heart.  So, in order to be compassionate, we have to put other people’s pain in our heart.
