Balancing the head and heart can help the world.
Human nature has become unbalanced. Whenever this has happened in history, when people have gone too far in any direction such as the current emphasis on reason and intellectuality vs. considering compassion and kindness of heart, there is always some kind of force coming up to correct it.
A sadness can come to a population of people who are under a system that suppresses all initiative. Mankind can’t put up with those things for too long. Sooner or later that population has to come back to its own nature of openness of the heart, kindness and harmony.
Whenever man forgets God, man suffers. Whenever man remembers God, everything starts to shine.
We are not going to be satisfied with acquiring possessions, thinking that when ‘I get this or that, then I’ll be happy.’ We all eventually awaken to the truth that the only satisfaction comes from within ourselves
When we come to the realization that the only thing we really need to change is ‘ourselves,’ we ask, what is it, that resists this change? The change essentially is of the heart, and yet the resistance is also of the heart.
The difference between greatness and mediocrity, in all fields, is energy. Energy is usually of the heart. If your heart is in something, that means you really want to do it. A carving over a fireplace said, “nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.” Kriyananda said he meditated on that for years.
Without suffering nobody would grow.
Kriyananda says, Let’s face it, life does clobber us. There are two possible solutions. You can say, alright, I’m not going to let it clobber me again; I’m going to clobber it first. And before you know it, there a hardness that settles in the heart. Most people’s hearts are hard because of that. Who suffers the most of all? They do! I say, why suffer twice. You can say instead, I’ve decided that I am happier loving than not loving. If people choose to hurt me or attack me, I’m not going to allow it to stop me from loving them.
When we feel an emotional pain, we can tend to get smaller and smaller in protectiveness. This can lead to the kind of pain that is worst of all – a shrinking of your awareness, shrinking of your identity. There is nothing to fear if you broaden your heart enough.
The heart’s feelings are the very essence of delusion. It is because of attachment, desire and wanting little things and not wanting the heights, that we remain bound.

Worldwide Changes in Consciousness – Kriyananda outlines the trends in world affairs in 1983 that are still manifesting today such as the declining value of money and increasing complication and dishonesty in politics.
He says, “Only truth wins in the end. Error may go on for a long time, but it can’t win in the end.”

The Secret of Genius involves energy, the direction of energy and realizing that you do not create this energy, you receive it.
When you do not allow the “no-saying” principle to come in, you will see that your power to accomplish things and succeed is extraordinary.
The Energization Exercises give you much more than physical strength. They give you ‘energy consciousness’ and ultimately the ability to direct energy toward mental and spiritual levels, which is vitally important.

Secret Teachings of the Bible Parts One & Two – ancient yoga teachings are found in the Bible
For example: ‘The three wise men followed the star in the east.’ Metaphysically speaking, “east” is the spiritual eye.
“Elijah was drawn up in a whirlwind.” The “whirlwind” is the kundalini power that uplifts us toward greater spiritual awareness.
The Bible also gives this description of the chakras in Revelations: ‘and I turned to see the voice that spake within me and being turned, I saw seven golden candle sticks……and his head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow.’ This passage refers to the thousand petaled lotus with rays of light going in all directions.
This talk can you help go beyond intellectual understanding toward a direct experience of God’s presence.

This talk was for the National Health Federation conference January 22, 1983 – techniques for health and happiness.
Sometimes the state achieved in yoga relaxation can be thought of as ‘limpness,’ but it is a dynamic kind of relaxation. Yoga relaxation creates an ‘openness’ so you can rid the body and mind of tensions and obstacles.

The Meaning of Inner Communion is learning to receive the power from God to transform our lives.
This talk is from a satsang Swami Kriyananda gave to the Ananda Community on his birthday. During the talk, he gave many techniques to quiet the restless mind.
He said, “God talks to you if you listen but if you stop listening, then he stops talking.”
He talks about spiritual leaders including Satya Sai Baba and Anandamoi Ma, and also about Hinduism and Christianity.
Here is a technique Yogananda suggested for ridding the mind of worry:
Inhale and tense the whole body, fill it with prana, so that your energy is very positive
Throw the breath out and relax

In Spiritual Communities: Living for a Higher Purpose, Kriyananda describes his dream for Ananda and the importance of living for a higher and broader purpose.
Most of the talk is dedicated to helping the individual to transform lower qualities into higher ones.
Living on a superconscious level when relating to others is an important aspect of community life. He explains that by karma yoga – actively serving others, subconscious thought patterns and behaviors are transformed. Qualities such as generosity, kindness and compassion are developed.
Communities with a group of people who can create a vortex of positive energy is what is needed today in order to bring civilization into a new higher octave, a new and higher way of expressing spiritual values in daily life.
There is that karmic necessity that God has placed upon each one of us living in this world. The natural and obvious solution for a better world is communities.
