If you work through tough seasons by ignoring some of your emotions (those scary and uncomfortable ones are important to acknowledge too) and putting more on your plate as a way to cope, that is probably an automatic response as a result of trauma you have faced in your life. If not, maybe the adults in your life as your grew up handled hard times in these ways and you're simply reacting the only way you saw modelled to you.
Either way, although no one (including yourself) meant harm, ignoring certain emotions or adding things to your plate to keep your mind busy actually has been and is harmful to you.
In episode 40 and my final episode of 2022, I share what it looks and feels like to not listen to your body (especially during tough seasons) by sharing what life was like for me last year. I also share what I have learned from that experience/time of life, and ways I slow down the second my body/mind/soul give me the warning sign I need to.|

Some people just don't care for any holidays. Some people have not had good experiences surrounding one (or maybe more) or around/one have gone through a traumatic experience. Some people like the holidays but for one reason or another feel lonely during whatever their holiday season is.
No matter why you don't like or struggle with any holiday - if you do, this episode might help you.
As someone who has unfortunately lost a lot of family on my mother's side (and has lost an uncle during the Christmas season), I don't love any holiday celebrated here in Canada like I used to. When I was young holidays meant a big family get together on my mom's side of the family. Now that I'm 31 and have lost a lot of family on that side, holidays don't mean half as much to me to be perfectly honest.
I know that is for personal reasons, so I'm not someone who goes around during any holiday being a negative Nancy or Grinch. In this episode, I share some ways to cope around a holiday if any one is hard for you and ways to try and stay positive to not ruin the holidays for people who do enjoy them!

Anxiety, stress, depression, fear, anger, heartbreak.. no human enjoys feeling these ways. Here's the thing, all of those feelings/emotions are just as important as the good ones. In fact, good and negative emotions go hand in hand.
In today's episode about why feeling all your feelings is so important to any healing process, and why healing won't truly happen if you don't do this.
I know crying on the bathroom floor, struggling to breath when you get terrible news, feeling sad/lost etc isn't fun. It's not comfortable. Being vulnerable is hard. We all have to go through this and experience this in life. It's part of the human experience, you're not alone.

Today's conversation is a good one!
I was recently at EmpowerHer Live in Arizona, which is a 3 day event with speakers and panels. The whole idea is for the hundreds of women who attended to learn, grow, connect, and network. It was an incredible weekend, I'm so glad I attended the event!
Trent Shelton (motivational speaker, author, and host of the Straight Up podcast) was one of the speakers at this event, and one of the things he said that really spoke to me was, "your perspective can be your power or your prison".
Our conversation today friends, is all about this! Get ready to dive in, and learn more about this impactful perspective Trent Shelton has. I hope it hits your heart like it did mine.

Every human will experience some sort of trauma and trigger as a result, in their lifetime. I want us to understand triggers better, so we can help ourselves and each other through them better. This to me sounds better than us all reacting to our triggers for the rest of time, making things harder on ourselves and others.
I'm going through a traumatic experience right now and grieving more than one thing. Things are a trigger to me (certain songs, words, memories etc) that weren't in the first few months of this year because life was going in a way that made me feel happy and more importantly, safe. I decided today we'd have a chat about how our brain works when we feel triggered, and share a few ways I'm actively working to understand my triggers better so I can put forth the effort to respond to them more than I react.
We can't avoid our triggers altogether, but we can try different tools/resources to understand them better so we don't spend our whole lives reacting to every single one of them and letting those experiences that triggered us win.

As I near my 31st birthday, I've been reflecting on what the first year of my 30's has been like.
There was a time I wasn't sure I would see my 30's and if I did, what life would like like for me. What I was sure of through my early to mid 20's is, I was worried more than anything else.
I'm thankful to be here, to be healthy, and to be able to sit here today as I share with you important things I've learned over this past year of my life.

I'm excited for today's episode and chat!
I recently attended an amazing weekend long event in Phoenix, Arizona - EmpowerHER Live which was hosted by the incredible Kacia Ghetmari (host of the EmpowerHER podcast). It was three days of connecting with hundreds of other women, amazing panels/speakers, networking, and learning about ourselves! I had the time of my life and felt really good about stepping out of my comfort zone, but getting myself to Arizona (and getting back home, truthfully) took some serious mindset work!
Today I share with you the story of how I got myself to the first ever EmpowerHER Live event, and details of what my experience was!

Today we're having a great conversation!
There are times in life something (or maybe someone) feels right to go for, and we have to do a lot of work to not let fear win and stop us.
I'm sharing with you all today the importance of going for things scared, when they intuitively feel right to go for - whether that be related to health, relationships, or healing.
If you need to reach out or would like to confide in me, please feel free to message me on IG! @thisiskaitey is my handle :)
In today's episode, we're talking about something deep but important - grief.
It's something not one of us are immune to experiencing , so I feel an honest conversation about and deep understanding of grief is important.
I hope what you hear today helps you understand grief a little bit better, feel less alone in the grief you may be experiencing right now, and maybe even help you build some trust in yourself that you can learn to sit with the grief you're working through.

Today we're going to have a chat about trauma, specifically how it is stored in and affects our bodies.
Trauma affects people in many ways (and everyone of us in different ways), but it is hard on every one of us. I want to have a conversation about it, so we can all have a better understanding and be a little more gentle with ourselves when something traumatic does happen to us.
If you're experiencing trauma or working through trauma right now I want you to know that although it will be painful, uncomfortable, scary, and take time you can work through it and get to a place where the affects of trauma don't consume your mind or body. I've done it, and promise you can too.

Welcome friend! I'm Kaitey, and I'm so happy we're connected!
Through my teens I felt incredibly alone, hopeless, and didn't have any tools to help myself escape the darkness that was severe…
