The body of 64 year old Thomas Merriman was found under a pile of trash outside of his home after police responded to a welfare check. Thomas  was a co-founder of the education and research nonprofit Butterfly Farm located in Encinitas.

On episode 13 of Tru Crym Podcast, we discuss the tragic story of 2 young boys who went out for a bike ride on March 27th, 1993 and never returned home. The ride was cut short when a sexual predator murdered them both. The case went cold for 8 years until In 2001, a DNA database found the man responsible for the crime. On episode 12 of Tru Crym Podcast, we discuss the disappearance and horrific murder of Elizabeth Sullivan.

Elizabeth thought she had met her "white knight" after marrying Matthew Sullivan, a medic in the Navy, and moving to San Diego. They had 2 daughters but their marriage quickly turned sour. Elizabeth was seeking a divorce lawyer when she suddenly disappeared.

Almost exactly 2 years after Elizabeth went missing, her body was discovered in the bay by Liberty Station. But examiners stated her estimated time of death was only 30-60 days prior.

Reyna is an ex crime scene investigator that worked for the Chula Vista Police Department, she has also worked for the Yuma Police Department and currently works for the U.S. Secret Service managing the forensic intelligent unit. 

Reyna walks us through the basic stages of a crime scene investigation from the moment she arrives to the crime scene, up until the moment she conducts the final survey and releases the crime scene.

Oz Cruz has worked as a homicide detective and now currently works in the stalking unit and is the supervising investigator of the gang prosecution unit. Oz has over 2 decades of experience working in major case investigations in the following fields: Homicide, Robberies, Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Sex Crimes and Elder Abuse. Oz sits down to speak with me about his experiences working in law enforcement.

On episode 5 of Tru Crym Podcast, we discuss the tragic case of 2 teenage girls that were brutally murdered in Torrey Pines State Beach, San Diego. These murders were committed in a similar fashion, 6 years apart.

Decades go by and both cases are cold, until new DNA technology would bring 2 suspects to light. One of the suspects is San Diego Police Department's very own.

Was one killer responsible for the young girls' death, or was this maybe a copycat?
