We're back from a little break and welcoming one of our favourite producers to the series. Shoal joins us for a wide-ranging journey of hypnotic techno rollers, long, layered blends and a clear sense of club functionality.

His new EP Interlocking lands next week on ISOTOOP on the 27th August.

Interview: https://truantsblog.com/2026/truancy-volume-366-martinou

Soundcloud: @martinou3000

With a catalogue defined by emotional pressure and delicate melodic control, Martinou brings his signature sensibility to our series in a set that leans clubward without losing its sense of depth.

"With this mix I wanted to express what fragments of a more peak-time oriented set from me might sound like. After a short introduction to the emotional space of the mix I focused more heavily on functionality, club play was very much the headline here since that’s a setting I’ve increasingly found myself booked for lately. I recently played a closing set at RSO in Berlin that wasn’t too far from this recording in spirit."

Hot off his first solo record in years with 'Entropy Of Me', the German producer stuns with a masterfully emotive hour that maps out the edges of techno, ambient electronics and widescreen introspection. A superb train ride mix well suited for Spring.

"The idea behind the set was to keep it quite diverse, moving through different moods, energies and textures while still keeping things tight and dancefloor-focused. I wanted it to be direct and punchy. Something that gets everyone on the same page quickly. I might have pushed the BPM a bit higher than usual, but it felt right in the moment."
