Reading the first and last verses of the first chapter in the Bible raises a question: “If God is good, and everything He created was very good, where did evil come from?” You might point to the original sin of Adam and Eve in Genesis 3. But you’d be mistaken...

The origin of evil was in heaven, not on earth.

Acts 26:14

Saul of Tarsus, in his encounter with the risen Christ, was given the parable of the ox goad as a reminder of the self-inflicted pain that comes upon men and nations that kick back against the will of God. Saul surrendered and became Paul the Apostle. Could we see something similar happen in America today?

There is a ‘Christianity Lite’ version of the Gospel that craves unity at all cost. We must ‘be nice’. Compromise is ‘king’. But there is a polarizing power in the true gospel that is exposing good and evil, separating light and darkness, and dividing those who truly believe from those who do not. Sometime, division is a good thing.
