Don’t even get me started, how many mothers have been gaslighted by a healthcare professional?
 At a smear test? at a baby scan? in labour? or when feeding your baby? It’s not just me right?
 And…No it’s not your hormones making you overly sensitive- it’s that burned out nurse/ midwife/ dr or whoever that think they know your body better than you do and bring judgment and negativity on you in your time of need…

Life is not a bunch of chocolates- most chocolates are tasty and sweet, only a few do you have to spit out, your much more likely to eat chocolate and enjoy it even if it’s not your flavour.

So for me, life is more like chicken pox.. its more often uncomfortable, random, it brings unplanned spots that pop up and often looks worse just before it gets better.

Isn’t it so humbling when your toddler diarrhea’s  on you.  Then as you clear it up.. it continues in the bath tub. I mean seriously what are you trying to teach me... is it multitasking? How to handle shock? How to communicate in complex situations? I am here to learn. It’s a shame that this is the way I have been forced to develop these skills.

Mothers -No matter what country you are from there will be some weird things that come naturally to you.

It may be sniffing nappies, regurgitating food...  picking off cradle cap... picking your child's nose, spitting on your thumb and then rubbing it to wipe your child's dirty face... I mean the list goes on doesn't it? The weird things that mums do... You know you do something that's on this list or something weirder right?

So I’ve breastfed three children and I’ve had every type of experience with it, like the good, the bad and the toe curling ugly. I’ve learnt a multiple range of skills from being a breastfeeding peer supporter and a friend to many who have needed breastfeeding support. Its a skill that we can assume will come naturally  but often it doesn’t and requires a good amount of patience, self control and support. So now I finally say goodbye forever to my own breastfeeding journey, here’s my truth.

Just continuing the reflections on parenting whilst I’m putting my 1 year old to sleep (you will hear him)… I’m thinking about how much I have always loved sleep, somehow it feels like my children have been designed specifically to train me out of the need for it.  I think it’s been 10 years now since I slept properly (I’m not even joking 🙃).. I can’t wait to sleep again in life 😴 😭
