The Generation Why podcast, established in 2012 by Justin and Aaron, has evolved into one of the world's most popular true crime podcasts, known for its factual and compassionate approach to each case. When True North True Crime started, the guys at Generation Why provided significant support.

In the summer of 2023, we discussed the case of Lisa Marie Young, a 21-year-old Indigenous woman missing since 2002 in Nanaimo BC, with Justin. Sharing Lisa's story with Generation Why's extensive audience was a significant milestone for our podcast.

In 2008, Blair Evan Donnelly was declared not criminally responsible for the tragic murder of his 16-year-old daughter, Stephanie Donnelly. The investigation started on November 15th, 2017, when her boyfriend reported her missing, having last seen her the night before on Little Mountain.

Witnesses recall her acting confused and paranoid at a Liquor Depot the day prior.

Despite thorough searches and canvassing the area, police found no signs of struggle in her van, which appeared to have been her residence. Shockingly, it took seven days for authorities to flag the vehicle as suspicious since it had not moved. As we explore the timeline and circumstances, discover the details about Carmel's life leading up to her disappearance. Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement, Carmel's whereabouts remain unknown. Francis Rattenbury is easily one of British Columbia’s most famous architects but his story has a tragic ending. 

Francis arrived in Canada to much fanfare but left under a cloud of scandal. Years later he was murdered as she sat in his favourite drinking chair. 

Many people believe that his Ghost became restless and returned to the buildings he designed.
