The Zona del Silencio  is a "mystical" spot in the Mapimí Biosphere Reserve in Durango, Mexico, where radio and TV signals allegedly do not work. In 1970, an American missile fired from the White Sands Missile Base somehow went off course and landed right in the middle of the reserve, 400 miles (644 kilometers) south of its intended target. U.S. Air Force officials hired a group of locals to search for the missile, keeping its location and details a secret. Why did the missile go off course? Was it something to do with the ex Nazi scientist  Wernher von Braun? Do you believe the statement made by Former United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger? Located on the same parallel line of the Bermuda Triangle and the Pyramids of Giza, is a place called the Silent Zone or Zona del Silencio. These mysterious places are located between parallels 26 and 28 and have similar legends – the legends say radio waves can not be transmitted in certain areas of the silent zone due to local magnetic fields, aliens, and “earth energy” among other explanations. The story of how these local legends came to be is much stranger, and more interesting than the paranormal legends would suggest. This dead zone is located in the state of Durango and the people who occupied this land are the Tepehuán.  Please enjoy our show as we continue our mesoamerica series.

The last episode we talked about the wonderful Zapotec people and their belief in a shapeshifting human called a Nagual.  Imagine walking through the jungles of Mexico on your way home when you see a dog, jaguar, or even and owl that doesn't look just right.  Then you hear it speak... Welcome to our Mesoamerica series. We have had a lot of request for the indigenous people of this region and I have to tell you the people are amazing.  So please sit back and enjoy.  A Nagual, is a human capable of turning into an animal like a jaguar, eagle, hummingbird, owl, coyote, or snake. Including the metamorphosis, they are capable of performing incredible magic, cast spells, and killings. They feed from all kinds of animals but their main source of food is people’s desires and fears. It is said that only the magicians and shamans can turn into Naguals through dark ceremonies that allow them to turn into a different creature and yield its power. However, not all magicians can be Naguals since Nagualism is said to be acquired at birth and needs to be cultivated.

The police still don't know who is taking these women after a decade of reports and task force implementation. We gave a little background into a few key players in Willy’s game last week and in this final episode you'll see how it is played out. Lynn Elingson saw a body hanging in the barn and Willy told her if she didn’t keep her mouth shut she would end up right next to her. Once the families, media, and RCMP get involved in the missing women cases a fire is lit under the VPD's butts. However, they still are able to mess it up. Willy does get arrested but was justice really served? Sit back and enjoy the final chapter of the pig man himself "Willy Pickton".

Sit back and enjoy this wild ride. This is part two of three. What will Willy do next. This monster hunted women in the Downtown Eastside for too long. Last week we talked about Piggy Palace but lets get the timeline straight. Piggy Palace was created in 1996. We left off with the Vancouver PD not doing much and not believing there really is a killer on the loose. Profiler Ron Mackay started project eclipse. Willy is visiting the Downtown Eastside more often. This was in 1991. I wanted to give some background into the Vancouver PD and the RCMP at the time. I’ll try to keep everything in a good timeline and inform you on the dates.

This week we will be releasing the entire Patreon Willy Pickton series to bring awarness in this MMIW crisis. May 5th is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Native Women and Girls. We hope you enjoy the extended episode.  At least 65 women disappeared from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside between 1978 and 2001. A man known as Willie Pickton owned and operated a pig farm in nearby Port Coquitlam during this time. He was eventually charged with the murder of 26 women however he claimed the number was closer to 50. This monster was convinced on 6 charges and sentenced to life in prison. While in prison Willie wrote a manuscript that was later sent to a publisher who titled the book “Pickton In his own words”.  Willie’s farm became the largest crime scene Canada has ever seen, and led to the largest serial killer investigation in the history of the country. During this investigation the public became aware of a larger issue that has been plaguing Canada; The issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. A government inquiry later concluded that “blatant failures” by police was a large factor. Including prejudice against sex workers, sex trade, the homeless, and racism against indigenous women led to a massive tragedy.

          Today we go over the story of the Qallupilluk. Is it real or is it just a myth from Inuit folklore?   No one really knows why these creatures love to take children. Perhaps they take children because they are lonely and like the company, or maybe they like how children taste,  what if they are feeding off of their life force? Or may it be something even darker?
          Many stories of the Qallupilluk tell of them wearing hidden clothing with large pouches on their back to carry children in. The Qallupilluk hides in the ocean, waiting for children to play alone on the beach or near the breaking ice floes. 
          Usually the Qallupilluk jump out of the water and grab children without any warning. Sometimes, however, you can hear them knocking under the ice singing a song trying to lure the children to there demise. Some elders have said that if the ocean begins to become wavy in an area or steam begins to rise from the ocean, a Qallupilluk might be hiding underneath the water so you better be careful. So the next time your family is on a vacation to see the northern lights, you just might want to be aware of where your children are playing because if you are not careful they might just be the next victim of the Qallupilluk.

The Qallupilluit lurk under the water, living along the coast. They hunt along the ice floes, kidnapping children that wander too close. They tend to emit an ethereal hum that will draw the child closer to the water so they can be pulled in. It is assumed that the child is simply devoured, while others say that they are held in a stasis-like state and used to fuel the youth of the Qallupilluit .

Qallupilluit  are said to be invulnerable in their natural state, but some clever Inuit hunters found a way to bypass this. They would call out to it, and ask it to change shape for them, usually into something like a seal or a whale. Then, they could kill it and bring home a valuable catch.  Don't catch yourself out in the ice floes at night alone or you might become the next victim.
