In 1992, three women vanished overnight from a home in Springfield, Missouri — and within days, police had a sketch that was published in a newspaper, tons of tips and a list of names that they were polygraphing.

They were supposed to go to Whitewater in the morning. Suzie and Stacy were supposed to call. When they didn't, Janelle called the house. No answer. She called again, and again, and again, nearly a dozen times. Still nothing.

Finally she drove over to check. The cars were there. There was also a broken porch light, an unlocked door, purses left behind, one with migraine medication that Stacy needed. But no one was around.

Episode 2 follows what happened the day the women were discovered missing. The obscene phone calls. The dog, Cinnamon and what the neighbors said about her.

On August 30, 2013, 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa’s SUV was found overturned in a ravine at Castaic Lake. The image that the public was given was that of a gifted artist, and a nearly "perfect kid" who would talk to his parents about anything.

The scene though, and how Bryce got there? A totally different picture.

The rear window was kicked from the inside out, dogs followed a scent track where it disappeared and to date, Bryce has not been found.

On purpose? Maybe.

We assume there’s an adult in the room. We assume that when a surgeon walks into an OR, they know what they're doing. We put our lives in their hands.

In a two year time span, Duntsch operated on several patients and 90% of them had terrible consequences. Two of them never even made it out of the hospital alive.

This wasn't just a mistake, this was a man who had sent his girlfriend a letter saying he was ready to become a "cold blooded killer".

And the hospital system? Let him voluntarily resign so that they wouldn't get a stain on their reputation (or be sued) and wouldn't have to report him to the NPDB (think of it like the black book for doctors).

So the next time Duntsch stepped into a job at a new hospital? They had no idea the absolute mess he left behind.

In 2009, Pam Butler missed a Valentine’s Day dinner and just disappeared.

She had a high-level security system around her home and even with this, there was no footage of her leaving. It took nearly a decade, a tenacious brother and a "Colombo" style cop to figure out what had happened.

Which then led to another crime that happened nearly 30 years earlier all perpetrated by one man; Jose Rodriguez-Cruz.
