Hurricane Milton continues to gain strength in the Gulf of Mexico and poses a threat to Florida by the middle of the week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

By Monday and into Tuesday, the system is forecast to move faster eastward or northeastward across the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico where additional strengthening is likely.

This system is not expected to impact the Upstate or Western North Carolina.
