A bunker. A scenario. A group of former senior ministers, military chiefs and other experts. Russia knows our weaknesses – but do you?

  • Trump calls Putin - but we're no closer to Ukrainian peace
Donald Trump has been back on the phone with Vladimir Putin, reportedly chatting for over an hour. But with no signs of an immediate peace deal with Ukraine following the call, Mark Stone and our Moscow correspondent Ivor Bennett discuss the potential repercussions.

Separately, on Wednesday Trump announced a new travel ban to the US from 12 countries, and an additional seven countries whose nationals face partial travel restrictions.

And we've had some new numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, which has analysed Trump's "big beautiful" tax bill and found it would add $2.4trn to the US national debt over the next decade.

You can find our economics and data editor Ed Conway’s analysis here.

  • Why doesn’t Musk like Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’?
It’s day 135 of Donald Trump’s second term, and our US correspondents Mark Stone and Martha Kelner discuss Elon Musk’s exit from his Department of Government Efficiency role last week, and his harsh criticism of Trump’s “big beautiful” spending bill in a furious X post on Tuesday.

Plus, Hamas and Israel have reacted to Mark’s Monday interview with former State Department spokesman Matt Miller, who said that “without a doubt” war crimes had been committed in Gaza by Israel, which is in stark contrast to what he said in office.

  • Is Trump politicising an ‘act of terrorism’?
A man has been charged after peaceful protestors in Boulder, Colorado were attacked with a makeshift flame thrower. The man was heard shouting, "free Palestine" as he was led away by police.

Martha Kelner is joined by David Blevins to discuss the rise in antisemitism in the United States, and discuss why Donald Trump has blamed his predecessor Joe Biden’s immigration policies for allowing the man, who is an Egyptian national, to remain in the US after his visa expired.

And, Martha has been speaking to people on both sides of a row surrounding a 16-year-old trans athlete that has caused the Trump administration to threaten to withhold federal funding from the state of California.

  • "Without a doubt": Why a former state department spokesperson believes Israel has committed war crimes
Hopes of a ceasefire in Gaza stalled over the weekend as Hamas called for changes to the US Israel peace deal, but could the US have done more to end the war sooner?

On today’s episode Mark Stone is joined by Matthew Miller, who, as state department spokesperson, was the voice and the face of former US president Joe Biden’s foreign policy. He tells Mark he believes Israel has 'without a doubt' committed war crimes in the fighting since 6 October 2023. Israel has strongly denied claims it has committed war crimes.

Mr Miller also says no one in the last administration could have convinced Mr Biden to step down sooner, despite concerns about his public appearances.

Plus, James Matthews and Martha Kelner have the latest on the tariff fallout, after a court ruled Trump’s sweeping tariffs were illegal.
