Elisha’s life or testimony can be summed up in a single verse: “As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand.” He knows that the Lord of Hosts lives, and He stands before Him. His entire being, including his ways, thoughts, and lifestyle, stood before God. He is in this posture of standing before the Lord of Hosts. We don’t for how many years he stood in front of or before the Lord of Hosts. In this verse, it appears that Elisha was speaking to both kings while in his heart he was standing before the Lord of Hosts.

One day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. The amount of content we acquire about God in God’s courts in one day, it would take more than 1000 days to find elsewhere. The content could be wisdom of God, knowledge of God, God’s glory, and so on. When we spend one day in God’s courts, we could gain more than 1000 days’ worth of content about God. The sons of Korah discovered this secret that spending time in God’s courts may exponentially increase their understanding and knowledge of God.  What we could learn in one day in God’s courts takes more than 1000 days or three years elsewhere.

In a vision, a young man saw God in all His Glory. In this vision, the young man was led to a place where he could see God from a distance. When he began to walk towards God, God become taller and greater, while he became smaller and smaller. After a while, he discovered that he had shrunk to the size of a worm, while God had become a gigantic entity. He realised that the closer you get to God, the greater God gets and the smaller you become in everything. You will be smaller in yourself, but you will have a greater and more closer view of God.

The Israelites travelled through the wilderness of Edom to attack the King of Moab. The Israelites marched for seven days on this roundabout route, with no water for army and animals. During this time of trouble, the Lord said to the Prophet Elisha, “Make the valley full of ditches.”

The present state of the church is “the fire has left, and we are looking at the ashes.” We are simply looking at the past exploits and trying to create new exploits of God based on those past exploits. It’s as if, after God’s fire has left, from the ashes we are planning to do new exploits. The fire has left the pulpits and preachers, but we are still not moving on to seek a new move or experience of God.

When most people see God, they see God’s Glory like see marvelous light or heavenly objects, and hear God’s voice, but they rarely see the form of God. In God’s Glory they don’t see the form of God because they don’t use God’s wisdom to view God. We need both our eyes opened and God’s wisdom to see God completely. 

Childlike Faith is a faith where we have more faith than doubts. A child can think and concentrate on only one subject or thought at a time. He focuses solely on one subject, either with faith or doubt. If he needs something, he will have only faith. If he has doubt on something, he will be only doubting. Whatever he thinks, whether with doubt or faith, is clearly seen. But, as adults, we have so many thoughts or things running in our minds. At any given time, we have at least 5-6 thoughts running in our minds.

Wisdom of God has two aspects: wisdom to live on earth (earthly wisdom) and wisdom to know God. We really need God’s wisdom to know God. A saint once said, “If you can understand how the universe is created and how God sustains the great universe–that is, how God sustains the largest planets and even the smallest molecules–then you will understand God.” A scientist once stated, ” The more I learn about how the universe works or runs, the more I realise there is a magnificent God who created it.”

Eagles get or grow stronger with age, whilst humans get or grow weaker with age. This is because the eagles have a restoration or renewal process in their mid 40’s. The eagle goes through a painful process for 5 months as part of this restoration. The process requires that the eagle fly to a mountaintop and sit on its nest. There the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks it out. Then the eagle will wait for a new beak to grow back and then it will pluck out its talons. When it’s new talons grow back, the eagle starts plucking its old, aged feathers. The eagle will then wait for new feathers to grow and once it grows, the eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and lives for 30 more years. The eagle will regain vigor, renew its strength, live longer, and soar higher.

A person who has seen God’s face has no other prayer request than to see God’s face on a daily basis. During his journey to seek God’s face, his entire perspective will shift from earthly to eternity or everlasting perspective. When we read Psalms 90, we see that Moses began to see God from an Eternal perspective and began to see everything around him from an Eternal or everlasting perspective.
