KEY TAKEAWAYS
What peer pressure really is? Something somebody is going to do or encourage you to be a part of when you know it’s wrong and you know deep down it’s not the right thing to do, but because of your situation and the group of peers around you, you're considering doing the thing young you know you shouldn’t.
You have an overriding feeling telling you it’s wrong, but also a powerful sense of pressure and want to give in to the peer pressure and impress and support your family, friends or partner encouraging you do to it.
We’ve all given in to peer pressure but do not get comfortable in doing the wrong thing, do not get complacent because it seemed okay the first time, because the effects of your pressured decisions seep out and impact on your life.
Guage yourself with the people you surround yourself with and if you find yourself with a group of people that constantly make you feel uncomfortable and play down the decisions that are wrong you’re being peer pressured.
What is weak? What is soft? It isn’t to stand up and walk away from something because you know it’s the right thing to do to. It isn’t to show courage and to stick to what you should do and what you realise is right.
Monitor your internal temperature gauge and don’t allow yourself to play down the natural inclination of making that next decision, do the things that you know are right and are inherently good. The more you do something you more you become it so don’t allow yourself to do it in the first place.
Not giving in to peer pressure is hard and it takes strength, to show what you're about and to stick to your morals and what you know is right. Regardless of the consequences and pressure to do so.
