16 years… That’s the amount of time you’ve spent waking up early, attending classes, and doing schoolwork. Garth values schooling so much like all of you. But, have you looked at how other courses, trainings, resources, etc. – offered outside the institutions – could greatly help you in the path your taking?
On today’s episode of Truth 4 Youth Podcast, Garth lays out the pros and cons of the traditional education and self-education. You could choose one or choose both! Learn how to get the most out of them to be the best person you could ever be in your career and in your life.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Education doesn’t stop when you’re done schooling. If you look around and look at statistics of the living conditions of people who have done schooling, you’d be surprised how low the happiness or satisfaction index is. You need to learn more about the real world – how to be practical, how to better communicate with your team, etc.
Don't count the cost of the shovel when you're digging for gold. You're investing. If you worry about what you're spending or giving up to reach that goal, you won't ever reach the goal.
The cost of what you pay for formal education to be a professional is ludicrous. If you pay £9000 a year for 3 years, it’s hard not to question it – especially, if you see courses, trainings, etc. offered by non-university institutions at a lower, more reasonable price. You get the same information and learn the same skill
Make money vs. Earn money. Garth firmly believes that the universities in general is preparing their students just to earn better money and empower them instead to make money on their own. You set up a system and make sure its up and running. Then, all you have to do is wait it generate money on its own (e.g. real estate property).
BEST MOMENTS
“Education is the most vital thing you're going to get in your life. The most vital thing after food and water."
“Don't count the cost of the shovel when you're digging for gold.”
“To EARN means you have to guide it, put your back on it and you have to do that. To MAKE means you have to set it up."
"Don't forget the other side, the self-education."
