Why the trials and the troubles? The Bible says, they work together “for the good”… (Romans 8:28). What is the good that trials and tribulations produce? James the writer says they teach us how to persevere or patiently endure hardship. He says it this way,
“Consider it all joy, my brothers, whenever you encounter various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance” (James 1:2-3 LEB)
Trials and tribulations also produces spiritual maturity. Listen to what James the half brother of Jesus says:
“And let endurance have its perfect effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.”
James 1:4 LEB
The ultimate goal of our trials and tribulations is to make us more and more like Jesus Christ.
Listen to the Apostle Paul:
“And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose, because those whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he should be the firstborn among many brothers.”
Romans 8:28-29 LEB
Now this cannot be said for everyone, it is limited to those who love God. To love God is to obey Him. It further exclusive to those who are called by God.
Here is the question, have you answered the call of God to follow Jesus Christ?
