In this episode the crew get together and discuss The Little Things currently available on HBOMAX for a limited time. The movie is among the first group of films to introduce the 30-day release on the subscription based DSP, in advance of the theatrical release, which will definitely impact its return, as for how, only time will tell. At least we don’t have to endure the press run and hear the same questions being asked and answered time and time again. I guess that’s the one true bright side of the film. There is a MAJOR plot whole that no matter how many times you watch the film, what substance you use to aid your focus, subtitles or not, slow motion or not, it is NEVER filled. And for that reason, an otherwise good movie, not great, good was a bigger disappointment than the Chief’s O-line performance in super bowl 55. Don’t watch this shit but if you do, let us know if you caught the gap that was wider than a pornstar’s asshole.

In this episode the crew get together and discuss Amazon’s One Night in Miami. The movie takes place on the night Ali would become the heavyweight champion. It was the night on the cusps of these men making decisions that would change their lives and make them four of the most revered men in American History. Malcom X on the verge of leaving the Nation of Islam, Jim Brown later retires from football, Cassius Clay would become Muhammad Ali, and Same Cooke would write the theme music for civil rights and Black Americans from all walks of life. What this movie did was be the fly on a wall as these men sat in a motel room discussing the Black people’s plight in America and their responsibility to help end that plight. Enjoy the listen, have the conversation, let us know what you think.

In this episode we review the newest written and directed creation from Nate Parker, who may be most known for bringing us Birth of a Nation. The movie is “American Skin” and it surrounds the idea of what could happen when those who have been treating unjustly seek justice for themselves. It has some of the best dialogue we have seen in a movie in a very long time. Even more so regarding the topic of black peoples’ relationship with the legal system and those tasked with enforcing that system. The de facto application of the rules that govern us has not been without bias, prejudice, profiling, and all out racism when involving black Americans. The stances are raw, they are extreme, but most importantly they are vocalized. The movie is a lesson in empathy, and a reminder that the change we desperately seek has yet to come.

In this episode the crew is joined by the amazing talented Prathiksha Srinivasan (Instagram: @prathiksha.srinivasan) to discuss her movie pick, Perfect Blue, our first anime movie. I feel like there’s a popping cherry joke here but we leave that for the comments section. Parthi is an actor, writer, Renaissance woman and co creator of the upcoming HULU original Plan B, but back to Perfect Blue. The movie brings to light the obsessive fan, the pedestals they place entertainers, female sexuality and so much more. The conversion was lengthy but necessary. Let us know what you think and let’s continue the dialogue in the comments.

In this episode the crew get together to discuss Fatale. Yet another movie about someone going crazy after being dickmatized, with some awkwardness dialogue. Funny enough though, it wasn’t all that bad. The music was really good and timely. So much so it can actually be considered a time capsule for what was being created in this microwave era of music. But back to the movie. We saw the return of Kane and his 5.0, for a bit nostalgia. We also had Michael Ealy repeating his role as the the suffering sex symbol whole fucked up but is still a good man. So it’s nothing new, we’ve seen too many times, it’s whatever at this point. Listen, and let us know if you agree.

In this episode the crew get together to discuss Netflix’s Outside the Wire. This is the latest cinematic blockbuster action movie effort by Netflix. The movie tells two stories. One being America’s chickens coming home to roost in the form of vengeance for those they called collateral damage. The other is a bit more familiar which is the story of advances in A.I. technology eventually become dangerous for mankind. The action in the film is well done as far as the fight scenes and combat. However that’s about where it ends. The dialogue is a bit uncomfortable and preachy. But take a listen, watch it, and let’s us know if we got it right.

In this episode the crew get together to discuss Soul. This is a Disney and Pixar animation and they stayed true to some of the typical traits of the movie. For example someone dies, we process death and life, etc. Unfortunately, none of the adult female characters had that WAAAAAGON we’ve come to expect of a Pixar animation (s/o Mrs. incredible). Nonetheless the movie questions out purpose vs our passion and how they help shape us. It also shows what happens when a passion becomes an obsession. With the advances in technology, and kids getting exposed to screens earlier and earlier, we thought this was an important point in the film. Hopefully it sparks a conversation in your home when you watch it. Expect the usually jest and humor as we tackle the topics that arose in the film. Enjoy, and have the conversation with your family.
