Pastor: Christianity and Aboriginal smoking ceremony can’t mix

Pastor Dave Pellowe is in hot water in Australia.

After refusing to have an Indigenous Aboriginal smoking ceremony of welcome as part of his Christian conference, the Queensland Human Rights Commission demanded an explanation, reports International Christian Concern.

The welcome ceremony, or smoking ritual, involves smoldering native plants to produce herbal smoke which, according to the Aboriginal people, will ward off evil spirits.  It’s a practice that is clearly antithetical to Biblical Christianity.

However, this Indigenous Aboriginal smoking ceremony is now commonplace in Australian sports events, government events, and public meetings.

To his credit, Pastor Pellowe replaced the unbiblical tradition with the reading of Psalm 24. The first four verses affirm God as Creator to whom man is accountable.

It says, “The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for He founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.”

Pastor Pellowe declared that these Aboriginal ceremonies conflicted with his Christian beliefs, saying, “You can’t mix Christianity, a true religion, with something that is made up. These are religious rituals which Christians, in particular, should have no part of.”

An attendee at his Christian conference foolishly complained to the Queensland Human Rights Commission and is now threatening legal action.

New York judge delayed Trump sentencing until after election

Last Friday, a New York judge delayed former President Donald Trump’s sentencing on the hush money verdict until November 26, a ruling that ensures Trump will not face any criminal punishment until after the election, reports NewsNationNow.com.

Judge Juan Merchan, who oversaw the seven-week trial, was set to sentence Trump on September 18. He emphasized that by pushing back the sentencing, it would ensure that the presidential election in November is not affected by his judgment, and vice versa.

J.D. Vance: Kamala is “a chameleon”

Appearing on CNN with Dana Bash, Trump’ running mate, J.D. Vance, was critical of Vice President Kamala Harris for changing many of her positions to become more palatable to the American voters now that she is the Democratic presidential candidate.

VANCE: “She's a chameleon. She pretends to be one thing in front of one audience. She pretends to be something different in front of another audience.

“Look, Dana, she's not running a political campaign. She's running a movie. She only speaks to voters behind a teleprompter. Everything is scripted. She doesn't have her policy positions out there. She hasn't answered why she wanted to ban fracking, but now she doesn't. She wanted to fund police, but now she does it. She wanted to open the border, but now she doesn't.

“She should have to answer for why she presents a different set of policies to one audience and a different set of policies to another audience.”

Father of Georgia teen gunman arrested

Last Thursday, 54-year-old Colin Gray, the father of Colt Gray the 14-year-old Georgia gunman who killed two fellow students and two teachers as well as injuring 8 others, was arrested, reports ABC News.

GBI Director Chris Hosey said the father is accused of "knowingly allowing his son, Colt, to possess a weapon." Specifically, investigators believe that the son received the AR-style gun, used in the shooting, as a Christmas present from his father.

The father was charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.

Tennessee principal in hot water for praying

A Tennessee school district has outlawed prayer on school property.

The principal at Broadview Elementary School, in Winchester, came under fire after she concluded a meeting with parents, teachers and students by mentioning God’s name.  She said this to God.  “We pray to You, Father in Heaven, for Your wonderful blessings and we ask those things in God’s name. Amen.”

Someone in the meeting secretly taped the prayer and sent a copy to the Freedom From Religion Foundation based in Wisconsin. The anti-Christian group of atheists then sent a letter of complaint, dated August 29th, to the school director Cary Holman.

The atheists allege that federal law bans any government official from delivering a prayer. They argued the district should be neutral with regard to religion.

The school district conducted an investigation and ordered the principal to no longer offer prayers.

In an email to the God-hating group, Holman wrote, “Based on the recording, the principal acknowledged it was her voice.  … I provided the Tennessee Code referencing prayer in schools. The principal understands what is expected and will lead accordingly moving forward.”

Christian talk show host Todd Starnes said, “It’s apparently open season on people of faith in America.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17, says, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Tucker Carlson asked Russell Brand to pray

And finally, Tucker Carlson interviewed Russell Brand, the British comedian, actor, and talk show host who professed faith in Christ in May of this year followed by a public baptism.

At the end of the interview, Tucker asked a simple question.

CARLSON: “Would you close in prayer?”

Initially surprised, Russell Brand knelt down in front of the chair where he had been sitting, and prayed this prayer.

BRAND: “I call on the name of Lord Jesus, Christ, our heavenly Savior. I pray in Your name that the forthcoming election be an opportunity for unity for America and for Americans, for forgiveness and for grace, that the dark and demonic forces that appear to operate at the level of the state, the Deep Dtate and the corporate and global world, experience your light, Lord.

“Thank You for the glory of consciousness itself in which we can experience You and live You. Thank you for the beauty of nature in which we see Your wisdom and Your creativity and Your infinite glory.

“Thank you Lord that You were born and died, that we may be forgiven and that we may have eternal life, not through merit or anything that we have individually achieved. For surely, all of us are fallen, but in Your holy name, we are forgiven by your act of redemption, by Your sacrifice. In Your name we pray, Amen.”
