Rural Utah now has more than natural scenery to attract big film productions to the area. For the next two years, they have a new financial tool. Film productions can now receive a rebate if they produce 75 percent of their project in a rural county. According to state film industry reps, that means big productions – like Kevin Costner’s civil-war era project – will likely come to rural Utah. Plus, reverberations from Russia's invasion of Ukraine are being felt around the world, even the rural West.
