TV Pilot’s License

ABC Family gonna ABC Family! This episode falls completely off the rails (too soon?), as the guys discuss their most Jesusy show yet. This show has everything from uniquely bad parenting to promise ring culture to an exorbitantly expensive soundtrack to the failures of abstinence-only sex education and ERNIE HUDSON? Honestly this episode is super fun, the guys unleash a new segment called Daddy of the Week, tune in and turn off your brain.

Come hitch a ride on this this christian dumpster fire and try not to throw your remote fully through your TV. Also, stay tuned for a lesson from Rich that no one asked for!

All rise! Once the seatbelt sign is turned off. It's time to get into some hijinks as the guys visit the 1984 pilot of the sitcom 'Night Court.'

Geoff, Max, and Rich will give you the lowdown on how this pilot massively lucked out with a relatively unknown magician lead, a killer director, a terrible pilot season, and getting smashed into the most popular NBC lineup of all time. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and they'll talk about how they almost went to jail. Tune in for a special guest story from our Legal Counsel, Ben [LAST NAME REDACTED].

What's the deal with premature unnecessary comparisons? This week, the guys dig into a show seemed destined for greatness and fell a couple thousand miles short. We're talking FOXs 'Mulaney.' Created in 2013 by rising star comedian John Mulaney, combined with powerhouse cast members, a G.O.A.T. director, and Lorne Michaels backing, where did it all go wrong? Did NBC sabotage its chances? Was the show ruined by meddling executives? Tune in to find out more.

It’s time to pop the champagne and look forward to the year ahead, but first, we need to recap the new shows of 2022. There’s no shortage of podcasts telling you how great “Severance,” “Yellowjackets,” and “The Bear” are so we’re not gonna do that! Instead, we break down three pilots that were canceled after one season: “Monarch” (Fox) “Blockbuster” (Netflix) and “How We Roll” (CBS). Thanks for listening and we’ll see you in the new year! Be sure to rate and review!
