Warning, the following podcast contains violent scenes that may be unsettling to some listeners. Listener discretion is advised.
The tale begins not with battle or bloodshed, but with possibility. In this opening session of The Neverending Story, two new adventurers take shape beneath the watchful eye of our storyteller. As Bri—an irreverent halfling cleric with a knack for fortunes and misdirection—and Myina, a blind Twigzog outcast who sees the world through roots and memory, begin crafting their identities, the foundation of the chronicle is laid.
This first episode follows the creation of characters, histories, and the strange world they’re about to step into. Personal quirks, unusual talents, mysterious pasts, and the seeds of future adventure all come together as our two new heroes assemble their abilities, define who they are, and discover why they’ll be stepping into danger side-by-side.
It’s a quieter beginning—one built on laughter, imagination, and the promise of the long road ahead—but it carries the spark that will eventually ignite into a full-blown saga.
About the Chronicle
The Neverending Story is an episodic, rotating-cast 13th Age campaign from Twin Cities by Night. As the Halloween party rolls on, the mood in the dorms shifts from messy fun to low-key panic. Lydia is suddenly nowhere to be found, Antoine is spiraling in the group chat, and everyone has a theory but no answers. Morgana, already done with Erica and the whole RA power trip, turns to a ritual for clarity—and what she sees only raises more questions about fear, bodies, and who might be wearing whose skin.
Meanwhile, Kylie and Sam’s attempt to slip back into normal party life is shattered when a shortcut across the hill sends Kylie tumbling into something wet, heavy, and wrong in the dark grass. For Sam, the discovery hits a nerve that goes far beyond a campus scare; for Kylie, it’s the first real hint that whatever haunts this place isn’t just rumor and gossip.

The Halloween party splinters into smaller, sharper moments. While the basement pulses with music and bad decisions, Morgana and Alicia retreat from the chaos with stolen wine, simmering resentment toward Erica, and a shared desire to let the night go their way instead. In the background, Megan is pushed past her limits, and Jennifer tries to keep it together with her own brand of questionable “help.”
Outside, Sam and Kylie slip away from the crush of bodies to the haunted hill and up to the old chapel—looking for privacy, escape, and maybe a little leverage over the heat that’s been building all evening. What starts as physical distraction turns into something stranger and more unsettling as Sam’s instincts flare and the line between memory, premonition, and raw desire blurs.
By the time clothes are straightened and everyone checks their phones, the dorm group chat is exploding. Something has happened while they were all busy chasing their own wants—and whatever it is, it’s about to drag everyone back into the gravity of the dorm and the secrets it’s been holding onto.

The Halloween party is in full swing, and the old monastery basement heaves with music, bodies, and the chaotic energy only college students can summon. Between cheap lights and cheaper drinks, the cracks in every façade begin to show. Sam tries—and fails—to get comfortable in the suffocating crowd, Kylie becomes the gravitational center of the room, and Morgana finds herself pulled into unwanted drama with an overbearing RA and a very protective friend.
As tensions simmer, favors are cashed in, and misunderstandings ignite into confrontations, students drift upstairs in search of air, privacy, or escape. Some are looking for space to breathe. Others are looking for somewhere to hide what they’re actually feeling. And a few, drawn together by desire, jealousy, or just bad timing, step into the night where the rules of the party—and the dorm—stop applying.
