  • Capturing Thailand from a Backpack
In this interview I chat with Justin Majeczki. We discuss his recent trip to Thailand on a documentary project, specifically from the aspect of his gear choices and overall logistics. Traveling with just a single backpack of gear and roller-bag Justin was able to create a stunning and professional travel video about Thailand.
About Justin, in his own words…
I am a digital content creator based out of Reno, NV. I specialize in time-lapse photography, travel videos, documentary filmmaking, landscape photography and more. I have been shooting and editing since I was 13 years old and have been able to watch the industry change dramatically over the past 17 years. I work alongside my wife, Cady Majeczky to help brands promote themselves through engaging videos and photos. In a world of over saturation it can be hard to stand out amongst the competition and make your mark. This is where we come in with our vision based approach in creating brand content that connects on an emotional level with the viewer.

  • Getting Started in Real Estate Photography
Have you ever considering entering the business of real estate photography? In this video I speak with Rich Baum, a veteran in the business. Rich gives some valuable tips on how you can get started in this lucrative business.
    About Rich Baum
Rich Baum is a Northern California-based professional photographer with experience shooting a broad range of subjects including real estate, sporting events, weddings and executive head shots. Whether producing images for Fortune 500 companies, small locally-owned businesses or a bride and groom on the day, Baum’s mission remains the same: to exquisitely capture the subject matter’s true essence and spirit, while also providing for outstanding service and a truly fun experience.
Baum began his career as a prop master in Hollywood, working on television commercials and a number of well-known films including “Hoosiers,” “Gandhi,” “Beaches” and “The Naked Gun.” Over the course of twenty-five years working in the film business, Baum developed a keen eye for detail, framing and composition – skills that would serve him well when he transitioned to professional photography more than a decade ago.
A resident of Fair Oaks, California Baum also loves traveling, windsurfing, snowboarding and spending time with his wife Melissa and teenage children, Taylor and Sidney.

  • A Look Inside Neomodern SF
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to sit down IN PERSON with my old friend and photographer Michael Rubin. Michael is what many would call a “serial entrepreneur”. He has started, and run many successful businesses over the years, he has written several books, and as if that’s not enough he is an accomplished photographer. All this while still being young enough to do a ton more cool stuff in the future!
His latest project is called Neomodern. It’s a brick-and-mortar gallery type experience in the heart of San Francisco focused on creating gallery quality prints from images provided by walkers-by, or by appointment. He says his team will take your image, prepare it, and create a stunning printed and matted gallery print for you — and they can create your project in half an hour!
The gallery itself is immaculate. The staff is well-dressed and professional, and the whole place just wreaks of class. Exactly what I’d expect from a Michael Rubin joint.

  • iPhone X – First Impressions – TWiP Talks
The geeks and early adopters of the world have been waiting in shivering anticipation for the latest release from Apple’s iPhone devision. After being teased with a keynote introduction showing off features like an improved camera, a new industrial design, and new bezel-less form factor… not to mention brand new software technologies like FaceID and, dare I say it “Animoji’s”. The wait is over, and Steve Brazill and I have our phones in hand, and are eager to compare notes and share our initial impressions on this new (and expensive) iPhone.
Here are some of the iPhone X shots Steve mentions during the interview:

  • Getting a New Perspective
I’ve known Chris for a while now and I interviewed him back in March of 2016, and since then I have been personally inspired by watching his personal photographic journey unfold. When we met, he was the very definition of “advanced amateur” — that is, someone who is highly skilled but is creating simply for the love of — creating. rather than money. Chris has since seen demand for his work increase dramatically, and has increased his skillset accordingly. And as a result, he’s now in the midst of making that all important transition from amateur photographer to professional.
We discuss what this transition means, and how he’s managing the idea of putting a price tag on his work, and the responsibilities it all brings.
    About Chris:
Chris is a realtor in Tucson, AZ. Up until recently, he as been enjoying photography as a hobby, but recently he has begun to sharpen his skills and shoot for fun, as well as profit. He is a licensed drone operator, and has shot for local realtors, agriculture, architects and small multi-media companies. He has also been contacted for drone work on weddings, and is a self professed tech nerd who loves all things DJI and Apple.
