Two And A Half Marks

"A house show with a killer main event"- Jake Long, "The New Day are the perfect way to start a PPV"- David Statman, "WHY DIDN'T DEAN GO OVER?!?!"- Angelo Inglisa. Roadblock was certainly a unique PPV to get, with more of an NXT/house show feel, but Dean Ambrose-HHH lives up to the main event hype. We also have the first New Day appearance, Enzo Amore's super fun catch phrases, a Brock Squash, and pure babyface Sami Zayn. When people thought the apocalypse was coming with Y2K, one might think that they were talking about the impending doom of WCW. Bash at the Beach 1999 was certainly a cursed PPV, headlined by a sham boxing match and a tag team match for the World Title. Yeah, you read that correctly. We also get some Jersey Triad, Buff Bagwell, an ancestor of the cinematic match, and the answer to the question "Is rap crap?". A bit of nostalgia for the Marks as the head back to the early 2010s with Night of Champions 2011. While Angelo and David nerd out over Hall of Pain Mark Henry, Jake acknowledges that there are a BUNCH of important feeling guys up and down the card. The Awesome Truth brings conspiracy theories, John Cena brings the troll to noted P.O.S. Alberto Del Rio, and WWE brings utter nonsense to the main event. Now, the Marks have watched well over 80 hours of wrestling to this point. There has been great moments, and absolute trash. However Battle Bowl is the most sinful of wrestling: boring. David, Jake, and Angelo struggle to find any positives with this one time WCW event. Somehow, not even Vader, Sting, Steve Austin and Ric Flair could save this from the doldrums. The Marks FINALLY revisit the realm of NXT, and this time it is some early NXT proper. Takeover: Brooklyn, the first NXT event to take place outside the realm of Full Sail, was the dawn of an epic run for the brand. On the card, we have Jushin Thunder Liger's only WWE match, the debut of Apollo Crews, the hilarious Vaudevillians, and 2 INCREDIBLE Singles Title Matches. This week, David, Jake and Angelo are N-X-T. Two And A Half Marks is not affiliated with the WWE/WWF/WCW/TNA/AEW/any promotion or any of the professional wrestlers named in this podcast. Thirty, count' em, THIRTY episodes for Two And A Half Marks! To celebrate this special occasion, David, Jake, and Angelo take a trip to late 2000s TNA. Lockdown was a PPV that featured every match in a steel cage, and mileage may vary on the different was they utilized this for match stipulations. But we have the Main Event Mafia, young Xavier Woods, Awesome Kong, and a very in over his head Mick Foley. Was it awful, or actually pretty good? The answer might surprise you. WELCOME EVERYBODY TO WWF SNOOZERSLAM 1995, I'M YOUR HOST ANGELO INGLISA AND THIS IS THE MOST EXCITEMENT YOU'LL GET! While not as insane and bad as WCW Fall Brawl 2000, Summerslam '95 has very few high spots, and serves as a nice sedative. We get a rematch of the legendary Razor Ramon-Shawn Michaels ladder match, a solid clinic in opening bouts between Hakushi and The 1-2-3 Kid, but when the main event features Kevin Nash, you might as well dash. After a wonderful streak of events, Lady Luck has decided to mar the Marks with some true Death of WCW. Fall Brawl has Vince Russo's stench all over it, and he even makes an appearance. With just one traditional singles match on the card, things get crazy in a hurry. Was WCW's last bit of product featuring guys like Kwee Wee, General Rection, and the Insane Clown Posse that bad?  Two And A Half Marks is not affiliated with the WWE/WWF/WCW/TNA/AEW/any promotion or any of the professional wrestlers named in this podcast. Adding to the streak of heaters that the Marks have been getting is probably the most iconic wrestling storyline of the 2010s: CM Punk threatening to leave the WWU with the WWE Title. A great storyline with great performers ultimately leading to CM Punk fleeing through the Chicago crowd with the WWE Title in tow. Does the rest of the card stack up? Who could forget 2008 WWE? Edge and Vickie Guerrero were a thing, Randy was starting to hear voices, and Ric Flair couldn't lose lest he be fired. The Marks certainly remember. Join David, Jake, and Angelo as the relive 08's Royal Rumble, featuring MVP, Rey Mysterio vs Edge, and BYE GOD THAT'S JOHN CENA!
