Two And A Half Marks

It has been almost 3 months since we last visited good ole' WCW, and the Marks were gifted with an event during the peak of its run. SuperBrawl 8's main event was a Sting-Hogan match for the WCW World Title, but that's besides the point. We have Booker T busting his has through a swerve, Jericho and Juventud Guerrera burning down the Cow Palace, and more washed stars than an LA bath house. Well, our last trip to a single-digit 'Mania was so good, might as well watch the same event, BUT AMERICAN. With the Iraqi War currently going on, we see Ultra-American Man Hulk Hogan taking on Iraqi Sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter for the WWF Title in the main event, which falls flat for a lot of reasons. But with a Retirement Match between Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage on the under card with TWELVE other matches, there is a lot more things than patriotism to talk about. We return to the aughts with Over The Limit 2010, a PPV that AUGHT have been named something else. Maybe the most cursed event that the Marks have covered, as multiple wrestlers suffered significant injuries, and most matches had very obvious outcomes. However, the CM Punk-Rey Mysterio Hair vs Pledge match stole the show, even if the Marks disagree about whether that is a good thing or not. FINALLY, David, Jake, and Angelo get some 80s WWF, and a Wrestlemania no less! With the Mega-Powers set to explode in the main event, you'd assume they would have some solid matches leading up to that ultimate finally. They have a whopping 14 matches, so there were plenty of opportunities to throw something of value on the card. We also get some classic guys like Jake the Snake Roberts, Andre the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior and Rick Rude, so surely there is something else here, right? Well, the Randomizer wasted no time throwing the Marks back into the fire. The 2nd trip to ECW-land is Hardcore Heaven 1997, the 2nd ever ECW PPV. With some extremely poor production quality, as well as some not-so-enthusiastic fans, the show has a lot working against it. Can guys like RVD, Sabu, and Tommy Dreamer as well as the Forbidden door that Jerry "The King" Lawler stepped through make the save? Or is it doomed to have better been forgotten? Have you ever wanted your wrestling to feel more like a soap opera? Well, AAA is the promotion for you. Featuring the very unique Minis division to open the show, we also some of our WCW favorites like Chris Benoit, 2 Cold Scorpio and Rey Mysterio. Throw in the enigmatic La Parka, a Lucha de Apuestas with Eddie Guerrero's hair on the line, and MAIN EVENT KONNAN, you get a really entertaining show. Our 2nd trip to the nostalgia-filled to 2006 is not nearly as rose-colored as last time. Due to *Teddy Long Voice* ELEVATED ENZYMES, this card scratched 2 title matches and butchered the plans for the first ever Punjabi Prison match. We get more King Booker, more Rey Mysterio, Mr. Kennedy bloodied, and a genius idea for the next King of the Ring. For the 2nd time in the past month, the Marks have a 2010's house show masquerading as a PPV, this time from Corpus Christi. And look, it's Dean getting screwed out of the WWE Title again! We also have 2 Elimination Chamber Matches, one full of delightful tag team shenanigans and the other for... the IC Title? Do you Bo-lieve in miracles? Never let a math major do an audio producers job.

When you look at the card for Backlash 2002, it is hard not to get excited. Hogan-HHH, Taker-Stone Cold, Angle-Edge, and more. But it just feels off. Be it Scott Hall taking on JBL for no good reason, or RVD and Eddie Guerrero falling short of expectations, this PPV is extremely up and down. But hey, we got a solid Women's match and what could go wrong with some extra Flair?
