In 1996, Rebecca Middleton and her close friend Jasmine Meens were getting ready to take a once in a lifetime vacation to Bermuda. Only 16 years old, they talked and dreamed of all the adventures they would get up to. A few weeks later, Becky was brutally murdered, an act that would go almost completely unpunished. This case is considered by many to be solved, but in a twist of the investigative system, the perpetrators evaded justice. They would also go on to take the lives of children to satisfy their urges. Police in Scarborough, Ontario struggled to catch this pair and bring them to justice, but it was difficult with such an unusual pair of killers.

Our special guest in this episode is Lil's mom, Shannan. Growing up in the Scarborough area at the time, she was kind enough to talk to us about how the community felt and reacted to these crimes.

This is a minisode with a maxisode kind of heaviness. A few weeks ago, news broke about the brutal murder of 17 year-old Bianca Devins of Utica, NY. There's little mystery around the suspect, as he took multiple images during his crime and uploaded them to social media. The investigation is still ongoing. 19 year-old Kenneka Jenkins was headed to a party with her friends in 2017. One from which she would not return. The group met others at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Chicago, and continued hanging out until the early hours of the morning, when Kenneka's friends noticed she was missing. What follows is a much-too-long search for the vulnerable girl, ending at an empty freezer in an abandoned kitchen of the hotel.
