  • NAN: Sue Dugan

Never judge a book by the cover. Sue may look like someone’s mother and grandmother, but she likes to write fantasy and science fiction. The weird speculative fiction really gets her imagination working overtime. She likes writing about time travel, reincarnation, soul swapping, and weird scientific experiments

Oh, and yes, she’s a mother and grandmother who likes to do Pilates, travel, walk the dog, and read—not usually all at the same time.

Sue joins us on the Nevada Author Network to talk about her catalog of books and her awards, and we find out why “Greece” is more than just a word to her.

You can find Sue on her website.

Her social media sites include Facebook and Twitter/X.

  • Hwy 50

For episode 228 of our award-winning podcast for writers, we’re on America's Loneliest Road.

You can have the usual (and expensive) fun in a Disney park or on a beach somewhere, or you can find adventure on Highway 50 that intersects Nevada from west to east. We traveled this long and winding road this week because that is what Nevada nerds do when we go on vacation.

We stopped at the Free Little Libraries in Carson City, Dayton, Fallon, Eureka, and Ely to drop off a copy of Hope Knocks Twice. If you pick up one of those books, please leave a review.

We spent a few nights in Ely to take in all the tourist stops. The Great Basin National Park is home to Mt. Wheeler, the bristlecone pines, and the Lehman Caves, all of which we checked out a few years ago. At the White Pine County Museum, we found a surprise directly related to CC’s former life.

We took a ride on the Nevada Northern Railroad, and we got to extensively tour their workshop and museum. We can’t overstate what a privilege it was to view the train engines and cars in their “natural” setting, along with the attached metal-working shops. If you’re any kind of mechanical geek, you have to go. And make sure you check in with the shop managers (the cats).

While on the ride, we discovered yet another surprise, this one directly related to one of my books.

    Gosh, so much fun.

In the rest of the podcast, we talk about our interviews with writers in this place and on the Nevada Author Network, and we bring you up to date on our works in progress.

-Serving Salvation Book Two is out. It’s available on most platforms and our online bookstore.

-Serving Salvation Book Three will be released in August.

-CC's manuscript for her Virginia City Romance is at Red Adept for proofing. New release July 2025.

-Teri and the wonderful Betas finished the third book of the A Sheriff in Nevada series. Time to make the donuts (and do my editing).

You can meet and greet us at these two great book signings:

-Barnes and Noble in south Reno on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 1:00pm.

-Artown at the Reno Public Market (Virginia and Plumb) on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 1:00pm.

  • NAN: Teresa Breeden

The Nevada Author Network welcomes Teresa Breeden to the microphone.

Teresa (pen name: Tori Briar) is a poet/writer who finds her inspiration when writing for her family. A proud Loyola Marymount Lion, she graduated with her English degree (writing emphasis) and a passion to create art, whether it be with words in the heart of a poem, with ink on paper, or with watercolors and sketches of monsters.

When her daughter was born, she wanted to share her love of reading, so Teresa started paying more attention to available novels. Her favorite genre is fantasy, but she found that there were relatively few fantasy books with female protagonists. That’s when she set out to write her first novel.

Her passion and creativity led her to being awarded the Nevada Arts Council Fellowship for Literature, and she has published over sixty poems.

Her book, Falling, was published under her pen name, Tori Briar. In her words, Falling “is the story of high school sophomore Kallie, an introvert with a mean round kick, who has survived the reoccurring violence of a family curse only by faithfully following rules she must now break to stay alive; and Adlai, a powerful but lonely vampire who tends to break his toys. As their paths continue to cross, Kallie must decide how far she’s willing to bend her rules to survive and figure out whether Adlai is the hero who seems to show up when she most needs help, or the most dangerous villain she’s ever faced.”

Teresa joins us to discuss her journey and inspirations.

You can find Teresa through her website at http://www.toribriar.com/

Her social media sites include Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X.

  • Kendall Brown

For our Sunday podcast, we had the privilege and honor to interview Kendall Brown, a northern Nevada writer who, in her words, "is a proud Marine Corps wife, a passionate small business owner, an experienced dog trainer, and the engaging author of two award-winning books: '10 Secrets of a Lazy Dog Trainer' and 'Let's Get a Dog!'"

Kendall shared her life growing up, her challenges with her first service dog, and how her writing style emulates one of the world's most beloved writers, veterinarian James Herriot from "All Creatures Great and Small."

Kendall's books have been recognized with awards and numerous positive reviews, and she was a finalist in the 2025 International Book Awards, one of the world’s most extensive and prestigious international book awards for mainstream, indie, and self-published titles.

We had a lot of fun with our "Seven Questions," our literary adaptation of James Lipton's questions from "Inside the Actor's Studio":

-What was your "I am a real honest-to-goodness writer” moment?
-Who is your writing role model and why?
-What do you love about writing?
-What do you absolutely dread about writing?
-What single significant life experience affects your writing, good or bad?
-Would you recommend “the writing life” to a loved one? Why?
-What is something unexpected in your past that we won’t see in your bio?

You can learn more about Kendall's books at 10secretsofalazydogtrainer.com and about her business is customk9servicedogs.com

We will be posting more writer interviews to include Rich Moreno, Teresa Breeden, Suzanne Morgan, Lynda Bailey, Joel Flanagan-Grannemann, Jacci Turner, Dr. Deborah Derrickson Kossmann, Alice Osborn, and Justin Egar.

We're having a lot of fun and hope you join along.

For episode 227 of our award-winning podcast, we are celebrating our forty-third anniversary.

On this date in 1982, we found ourselves kneeling at the altar in old St. Teresa’s of Avila Catholic Church on West King Street in Carson City, Nevada. In the days since, we had a bunch of kids, saw the Information Age revolution, watched our country transform, and grew together as a couple. Sometime in there, we started our little publishing company Two Moore Books, LLC, and we published fifteen books.

    It’s been a ride.

As part of the TMB experience, we have writers from Nevada and across the country coming onto our little podcast. This schedule is tentative and (hello, redundancy) subject to change:

June 8: Interview - Kendall Brown

June 11: Interview - Teresa Breeden (Nevada Author Network)

    June 15: Our regular podcast

June 18: Interview - Sue Dugan (Nevada Author Network)

June 22: Interview - Rich Moreno

June 25: Suzanne Morgan (Nevada Author Network)

June 29: Interview - Our regular podcast

You can meet and greet us at these two great book signings:

-Barnes and Noble in south Reno on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 1:00pm.

-Artown at the Reno Public Market (Virginia and Plumb) on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 1:00pm.

Thank you for joining us on the big 43rd anniversary. TIA LYL!

  • Angela Laverghetta

Angela Laverghetta is a Northern Nevada based fantasy author and developmental editor. A Nevada resident since 1993 and graduate of Western Nevada College, Angela has fallen in love with the forever blue sky and grand mountain vistas of the west. In fact, almost all her writings take place locally, including her debut modern fantasy novel The Buried Knight published in 2023, and its sequel, The Hidden Druid, published at the end of 2024.

A voracious reader as a child, Angela always knew she wanted to write books of her own, but it wasn’t until a dramatic life change in 2015 that she allowed herself to reclaim her dream. A dream that has stretched to encompass helping other young or beginning authors reach their dream with her developmental editing.

When not writing or editing, you can find her handling her zoo of many pets, reading her youngest son’s fanfiction, or curling up in a blanket with a mug of tea and a stack of four or five books in easy reach. To stay up to date on release dates and for more Nevada adventures, join her newsletter or purchase books directly at www.angelalaverghettabooks.com

Angela’s books are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo, and locally at the Nevada State Museum Gift Shop, Grassroots, Thistle & Nightshade, and the Depot Art Gallery and Bookstore.

  • Rebranding

For Episode 226 of our award-winning podcast for writers, we are traveling to a new frontier.

We often receive requests from published writers from around the world asking to be on our podcast. The time has come. We are throwing open the doors to published writers who want to join the Amateur Hour.  Our plan is to alternate the Sunday interviews with our regular show (every other week).

One caveat: if you are a member of the Sierra Arts Foundation and you have books in the SAF Depot Gallery and Bookstore, we’ll schedule you for the Nevada Authors Network.

Are you interested? Click on our “Contact Us” page and let us know.

We had a great interview with Jacci Turner talking about the release of “Wind Catcher.”

CC had fun on Threads. She received 190 responses when she asked how many indie writers first published when they were 60 and older. We feel energized by the range of people who “rewired” their lives after retirement. Fun topic!
