  • Dr. Dan Morgan

On our writer's podcast journey, CC and I have been privileged to meet authors with authentic and unique life experiences, but few are more special than Dr. Dan Morgan.

In the world of writing, many aspiring authors grapple with the same question: What makes my story worthy of being told? This question is particularly poignant in memoir writing, where personal experiences are laid bare for readers to connect with. On our podcast, we delve into a conversation with Dan, who recently released his memoir “Hiraeth, The Voice of Home,” exploring his unique journey and the lessons he learned along the way.

Raised in a challenging environment, Dan’s childhood was marked by instability. However, instead of adhering to societal expectations, he chose to explore various paths—roller derby, stand-up comedy, and eventually academia. He reflects, "I grew up in a home where there were no expectations. This freedom allowed me to explore and try everything. What do I have to lose?"

You can learn more about Dan at his website https://danmorganthevoiceofhome.com/

  • Ashley Hanna-Morgan

Postpartum challenges can feel overwhelming, especially for new mothers. In this podcast for the Nevada Author Network, we explore the journey of Ashley Hanna-Morgan, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and author, who combines her professional insights with personal experiences in her latest book, "In Her Own Backyard." Join us as we delve into how storytelling can illuminate the often-hidden struggles of postpartum mental health, and the importance of support in this vulnerable time.

Ashley is a certified perinatal mental health therapist and social worker with over eight years of experience helping parents navigate the complexities of pregnancy and postpartum mental health. As an author, she learned lessons about writing. For instance, she notes a common mistake that new writers make is to shy away from their own personal experiences when writing a book. She endorses embracing these moments that lead to more authentic storytelling. She also endorses creating a routine versus waiting for inspiration, which can lead to inconsistent progress and results.

You can learn more about Ashley at her website https://ashleyhannamorgan.com/

  • Disappointment

Yeah, that old feeling again. If Two Moore Books, LLC, had a third partner, "Disappointment" would probably be their name. Perhaps our expectations are too high, but it was a rough week between Book Release Day and making the tough decision about taking our cross-country trip.

We are not alone, of course, so we used our feelings and coffee to fuel our discussion about this week's events (good and bad) and to gain perspective. In the big scheme of things, we're doing okay. Really.

I finally redid the 99 cent book page so it's much easier to navigate. Check out our seven e-books to get a taste of what we do.

We gave you an update on our manuscripts (below), but we didn't tell you how you can meet us:
    - I'm at Comma Coffee two or three times a week. Stop by and say hi.
    - April 4: We're setting up a booth at the Carson City Easter Egg Hunt.
    - April 11: We'll be at the Nevada State Museum's Spring Into Adventure event.
    - May 25: I'll be doing an author talk at the Churchill County Library.
    - June 6: We're setting up a booth at the Sierra Arts Foundation Bookfest.
    - August 25: CC will be doing an author talk at the Churchill County Library.
    Manuscript Status:
    - The sequel to #passionrestored is at our editors. Release in late May or early June.
    - CC is digging into Battle Born Bride. She talks about fast-drafting it.
    - The editing on the sequel to Finding Salvation is almost done. Hi, Teri!
    - The fourth "Sheriff in Nevada" book is adrift on rocks and shoals.

That’s all for now. Check us out and let us know what you think. LYL!

Originally from Massachusetts, she embarked on her writing journey in 2019 and has crafted a unique voice that resonates in her novels. • Hamster Wheel

Hello from the Worldwide Headquarters of Two Moore Books, LLC, and we are busy, which is the topic of today's podcast.

CC and I have been on the "independent writing hamster wheel" since long before we retired. We'd work, we write, we sleep, and we do it all over again. Many of you do the same, grabbing a few precious minutes of time here and there to produce books, blogs, and stories. Like us, you may have a thriving writing business to support your creative endeavors.

The problem: we don't know how to stop the hamster wheel. We don't know how to hop off. Do you have any ideas? We'd love to hear your thoughts.

We erroneously called it the "Best of Carson" in the podcast when the real name is "Carson City Local Favorites 2026." We would appreciate your vote.

If you'd like to see us:
    - On March 17, we'll be at Comma Coffee in the morning to release "Finding Salvation." It is on the major platforms and on our website right now.
    - On April 4, we will be at the Pumpkin, Pioneers, and Tall Tales Easter Egg Hunt in the Pete Livermore Sports Complex in south Carson City.
    - On April 11, we got back to the Nevada State Museum for the spring literary event.
    - In June, we'll be joining our Northern Nevada writing colleagues at the Sierra Arts Foundation Bookfest.

    Works in Progress:
    - CC's "Restless Spirits Book 2" (working title) is at the editors and she's hunkering down on "Restless Spirits Book 3."
    - CC is planning a Young Adult book release for "Battle Born Bride" on October 31.
    - As said above, "Finding Salvation" will be released on March 17, and the next book set in the same universe will be released in July.
    - I have temporarily shelved the fourth "Sheriff in Nevada" manuscript for reasons explained in the podcast.

That's all for now. Check us out let us know what you think. LYL!

  • Ron Roman

On the “CC & JT Amateur Hour,” we interview Ron Roman, a retired professor and author, who shares insights into his writing journey, the themes of his book “Of Ashes and Dust,” a Finalist in the Chanticleer International Book Awards. The discussion explores the post-apocalyptic genre, character development, and the unique perspectives of those living outside their home country.

Post-apocalyptic narratives like those in Ron’s book often explore the fragility of civilization and the resilience of the human spirit. He emphasizes that the current global climate, marked by political tensions and environmental crises, makes these stories particularly relevant today. He notes, "We are at the edge, living in a dangerous era. The proliferation of nuclear weapons and the digital landscape keep us aware of potential chaos."

Ron also reflects on the writing process, the importance of perseverance in publishing, and the role of veterans in society. The episode concludes with Ron reading an excerpt from his book and discussing his future projects.

You can learn more about Ron at his website at https://www.writerronroman.com/

"Of Ashes and Dust" is available at Amazon, Simon and Shuster, and through Histria Books.

Welcome back to the podcast where we "help writers write," and today's important subject is how to "Keep It Simple, Silly."

We were planning another cross-country trip recently when we realized we were making our lives harder than they needed to be. Not only did we take a step back, we realized that, hey, maybe other writers would be interested in our homegrown solutions to turn complex projects into simple tasks. These are not original ideas by any means, but we stuck a few good ones into this podcast for your listening pleasure and, maybe, your increased sanity and decreased anxiety.

Along with planning the trip and doing things on camera, we're writing and publishing almost every day. "Finding Salvation" is available for presale (links below), and the paperbacks should also be out on March 17, including our bookstore. CC is grinding away at her "Restless Spirits" series with a possible publication date of April 2026. And we have more books coming out after those! (Also, did you know we have our own bookstore?)

W're having so much fun interviewing other authors about their books and the craft of writing. The first of two recent interviews included VL '"Tori" Stuart, a retired psychologist & author living in Costa Rica, who shared her journey from psychology to writing, her experiences as an expat, and her insights into the dystopian genre (link). On the NV Author Network, Jade Griffin shared her experience and wisdom on the interplay between tabletop gaming and writing. She also highlighted her upcoming projects and reflects on her past works (link).

Here are those links to pre-order "Finding Salvation:"
    Amazon
    Barnes & Noble

Lots going on! We hope you enjoy what we have to say. Take care of you. LYL!

  • VL 'Tori' Stuart

In our latest episode of the “CC&JT Amateur Hour,” we welcome VL “Tori” Stuart, a retired psychologist and author living in Costa Rica. Tori shares her journey from psychology to writing, her experiences as an expat, and her insights into the dystopian genre.

Tori's writing journey began organically, and we mean that in the literal sense. She noticed the absence of a gardening column in a local expat newspaper, so she approached the editor and began writing. This initial foray into writing not only earned her fan mail but also sparked her passion for storytelling. Her first serious writing experience opened the door to novel writing, leading to her latest work, "Zade," her first dystopian novel.

Our conversation explores the themes of hope in dystopian fiction, the challenges of marketing books, and the impact of personal experiences on writing. Tori emphasizes the importance of standing against evil and the struggles of crafting a compelling blurb for her upcoming novel. The episode concludes with Tori's reflections on her past and where listeners can find her work.

You can find VL Stuart on her website at https://authorvlstuart.com/

Tori is on Facebook where she is the group admin for  “Marketing for Indies."
