TXRiverTonk broadcasts live from the KZSM Studio in Downtown San Marcos, TX Fridays 12-2pm. After taking some time off to renovate the studio, I jump back in the booth to record an hour of music. Then I drive a few blocks down the road to The Woodshed, home of Headwater Audio which is Kent Finlay's old studio now owned by Dave Sims Jr. With the help of sound engineer Will Clegg and video by Jacob Peirce we recorded interviews and performances by The Lonesome Heroes, Ali Holder and Tommy Charles before the crew headed to San Antonio for a show at the Lonesome Rose. The Lonesome Heroes play three songs, including "Black Coffee and Three Cigarettes" off the upcoming album due out in November, as well as "Visions of Yesterday" and "Hope". Austin based Ali Holder and Tommy Charles down from Calgary start off with a beautiful version of their duet "Morning Light" before swapping a couple unreleased songs. We talk rivers and caves, mighta even jumped in the river after.
