Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 131: THanksgiving 2, Week 5: Fakle Till You Makle (“Catch Me If You Can”)

Hey, everyone! It’s the final week of THanksgiving 2: Electric Hanksaloo, and we are bookending the month with the two longest, most serious, and at least one of us (the one writing this) (guess who it is!) would argue best movies of the five. We watched “Catch Me If You Can”, a movie all about a dude who faked his way through life so well that he managed to pass the bar exam and get hired as a doctor.

We also spend a good portion of this episode discussing Grey’s Anatomy (with spoilers up through Patrick Dempsey’s leaving), and what all being a librarian entails and whether we could fake our way through it. (We probably couldn’t.)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 130: THanksgiving 2, Week 4: Pity Slickers (“The Money Pit”)

Hey, everyone! This week we rounded out our 80s Hanks Spectacular with “The Money Pit”, which is a really enjoyable if extremely simple movie about a couple and the super terrible house they bought.

It’s another short one, because frankly, this movie can be summed up in two sentences. Probably even one sentence. “Tom Hanks buys a super terrible house.” But it has some classic THanks bits and is overall just a really fun little comedic farce.

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 129: THanksgiving 2, Week 3: It’s a Tom Rom Com! (“Dragnet”)

Hey, everyone!

Police detective Joe Friday was a stickler for the rules, a real square. Detective Pep Streebeck, was a rogue in a wrinkled shirt who drove too fast. Neither Joe nor Pep could see a world where they could possibly work together; but work together they must, for Pep was Joe’s new partner, and they had a case to solve…a case involving a crooked reverend, a goat-leggings-wearing cult, and the Virgin Connie Swale.

When things go south and Joe is unfairly relieved of his badge, it’s up to Pep to take what he’s learned from the straight-laced man he’s grown so fond of and solve the case — for both of them.

Can these two detectives get their happily ever after? Or will they be eaten by a giant snake?

Academy Award Nominee Dan Aykroyd and Academy Award Winner Tom Hanks star in this buddy-cop comedy that is basically a romcom, and we’re here to explain that statement.

Hey, everyone! It’s Week 2 of THanksgiving 2: Electric Hanksaloo, and this week’s movie, “The ‘Burbs”, was…fine. It’s just fine. It’s weird, and Corey Feldman is in it, and so is Carrie Fisher, and we suspect there is a reason you never hear about why either of them was in this movie and that reason is that this movie was weird and sort of…well, it was fine. It’s no “Big”, but it’s better than “Gettysburg”, so that’s something, right?
