We decided to skip The Sandlot 2 and go straight to The Sandlot: Heading Home, in which Luke Perry gets hit in the face with a baseball and travels back in time to his own childhood! It’s a sometimes-amusing look at what it means to be a friend, what it means to befriend a ghost, and what it means when your friends say there are bats in the basement.

Hey, everyone! It’s been a while since we wrote a movie. Usually, we start with a title and work forward from there. This week, we start with characters and work…well, not exactly backward, but like, sideways and diagonally and up and down and basically in every direction we possibly can until what we are left with is a title and some characters who have jobs, and also just a whole bunch of cocaine. None of this should come as any surprise at all to anyone who has ever listened to an episode of this ridiculous podcast that we do.

Our apologies to one Mr. John Hughes, without whom this episode would not have been possible, so please don’t @ him. (Partly because he’s in the Great Beyond, so there’s no chance of him seeing it, so actually, you know what, @ him, not us.)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 92: The Best Stephen King Story Stephen King Never Wrote (“The Lost Room”)

Hey, everyone! Friend of the show Amity (hi, Amity!) from The Latecomers podcast and Podcasts Collected Presents upped her Patreon donation to the tier that lets her suggest something annually for us to watch and cover on the show. So we watched the 2007 SyFy Channel miniseries “The Lost Room” (Amazon affiliate link), and not to spoil anything, but it’s SUPER GOOD. Which isn’t surprising, Amity wouldn’t suggest something she thought we’d hate (probably) but we were both pleasantly surprised by just how much we enjoyed it.

Apologies for the handful of coughs that I couldn’t edit out; the weather in Virginia has been absurd this week and it’s messing with basically everyone. But we make it up to you by giving you a recipe for some really good chicken (we both made it the night after we recorded this and can confirm, it’s very good).

Hey, everyone! Imagine this: you’re sitting around a table with three or four of your closest friends. A large book, the pages rife with Post-It tabs, sits in front of you; on top of it, a handful of dice. One friend, we’ll call him, I dunno…Ben…sits behind a screen depicting monsters and dragons killing townspeople while sword-and-shield-wielding fighters and Magic Missile-blasting wizards attack. You look to your left, and see your friend James preparing to speak. He opens his mouth, and your ears begin to bleed.

“HEY GUYS! I’M GREGORY! OOPS, YOU’RE DEAD!”
