Recently the governor of Tx signed into law that no abortions may occur after 6 weeks. Well most women don't find out that early unless they are trying to get pregnant and tracking everything.
Of course that ramped up abortion posts on social media for and against the new law.
Abortion, like most topics is not black and white. There is a ton of gray area.
In this episode I sit with my friend and we share our differing views on abortion.
What we do agree on is that more sex education is needed as well as more resources for those mothers who do get pregnant and are unsure what to do.
I hope this episode provides others with the ability to have these conversations, so that we can stop fighting with each other and provide solutions instead.
Thank you Brittany for your willingness to share your views and listen to mine!
Law enforcement was a heavy topic last year. Everyone had their opinion on how things should be handled in certain situations. MOST people do not know the first thing about law enforcement and what it entails. They follow along with whatever narrative the media provides them.
This episode was created to enlighten the public on somethings they may now know and how those things affect our law enforcement officers. I have included a few links below and there are studies you can also research on your own at google.com/scholar.
One area I did not touch on is police suicide. I watched a video last year of a law enforcement office who committed suicide. He did about a 15 minute video on why he was committing suicide, which I can't say I agree with his method, but he did what he felt he needed to do. I'm including a link for a 2020 report to congress on police suicides.

We often see posts shouting "Happy Father's Day!" to single mothers, but are they really doing the job of a father or are they doing the job of a mother alone?
Can men/women fulfill the role/duty/needs of the opposite parent?
I say no and hear my thoughts on why in this episode.
Single parents can do a great and even with two parent households mistakes are going to be made but and trauma will occur for your child, but trying to take on the role of the other parent is never going to be done successfully.
Instead surround yourself and your children with positive role models to assist in raising your child/ren.
If you think other wise please let me know in the comments!
I wanted to do an episode on growing up biracial but realized that growing up is not where I noticed issues. It was not until adulthood and really moving away from home that I realized how much "black and white" there is in the world. It's not only in the sense of race, but we always think there is clear cut answers to things, and the reality is most things are complex.
Parenting, laws, child welfare services, health, education....I could go on and on. At the end of the day we all have different views and perspectives on these things. Being biracial things have also been black and white and since I'm in the middle (Black and Mexican) I don't really fit in anywhere in that world. That's because I like most things and MOST people am complex. Not just because of my race but because of my life experiences.
No two situations are exactly the same no matter how similar. We need to take each situation and look at in individually with all information before judging or making decisions or accusations. I do plan on having others on the podcast to speak on their experience as biracial and how they navigate that world.

Personal responsibility seems to be a characteristic that many lack and that I also, once lacked. I played the blame game for decisions I made that negatively impacted my life. It was always someone else's fault or an events fault for my poor decisions.
It wasn't until the last couple of years when I started working on personal development that I gained an understanding of having control over my own life and my actions or reactions to anything that comes my way.
In this episode I speak with fellow HCI Alumni health and life coach, Kelly McIntee. Kelly is a coach who helps her clients work on making decisions and sitting in the before moving forward with the decision to ensure they're making the right decision for themselves. Kelly speaks on how communication and personal responsibility plays a role in every decision we make.
It's time we start taking responsibility for our actions, accepting the consequences (good or bad), learn from mistakes, and own our decisions.

In this episode I discuss the importance of allowing our children to take mental health days from school. If you notice me get a little choked up, I did because I am struggling with my daughter right now regarding her mental health and I feel lost. It is extremely difficult especially at a young age to know how to help them, but I am doing the best I can. So just know you are not alone! Below are the articles that I mentioned in the episode and as always comments are welcome!

In this episode I discuss how we've become so concerned with being offended, but how we can prevent that and really focus on what and who is important in our lives worth giving our energy and time to.
Being offended takes so much energy and gives so much power and control to others so it's time we take that power back!
In this episode I have a friend share her weight loss journey, what helped her through, and her perspective on body positivity and society. It's important that we understand how important body positivity is but, also the impact of glorifying being unhealthy.
We did have some technical difficulties so I apologize for that but we got it done!
I want to thank Sheila for her vulnerability and willingness to share her story! I hope that brings help and hope to anyone who wants to begin their own journey!
With the new EO by President Biden transgender males/females have been the topic of many news outlets. As a mother of a daughter I share my perspective and feelings when it comes to athletics and bathroom usage as well as being a Veteran. However, what I realized in my research is that transgender men/women have been involved in all of these things prior to any EO and we were just never aware of it. We're now hyper aware because lets be honest....we discuss what the media shows us! Hear my thoughts on the new EO, athletics, and military!
