Everybody hates FIFA. Understandable. However, football in its essence, is a game that has always been able to bring people and cultures together. Even within a team. Then, football is fun. This was partially just the case at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. And since unfortunately music-wise there is only rubbish in the tournament, @philipp-demankowski thought to contribute the soundtrack himself. The rules are: For each tournament participant there is one favorite song by an artist from the respective country. So no Italo Disco, no Dutch Techno or Highlife from Ghana. But almost everything else. Although it's not so easy to find out which song is from which country. Have fun!

Could you please introduce yourself to our listeners? I’m Emil, currently living in Dresden, the city of the Uncanny Valley. I dj as Harry Hancock among some other funny nicknames and have been involved with the Palais Palett project over here, building open air locations and organizing cultural events of all kinds. I’m currently also interning at Uncanny Valley to see what running a label is about, which is really cool and fun and interesting. So, thanks ahead for giving me the chance to do this podcast! What’s the idea behind your mix? It’s become very fashionable for mixes these days to feature at least partly ambient-ish music, mostly either as intro or outro. I wanted to see how it would be to work towards that calm part in the middle of the mix, while the beginning and end are filled with more dancy music. I only realised afterwards it could be interpreted as a musical uncanny valley… Starting off rather confused and emotional but cold, the whole thing crashes somewhere along the way to then be slowly and steadily built up again, filled with life at the end.
