February 03, 2013UV Podcast 010 – WilhelmHi Consti, could you please introduce yourself to our listeners? I am Consti, I live in the South of Leipzig. I am working for the booking agency Buki Good. Besides this I also co-run the label Doumen Records with my friends Konsti and Henrik. Furthermore I am proud to be part of the Nachtdigital festival crew and volunteering at the famous Conne Island in Leipzig. How has the mix been recorded and what’s the idea behind it? The mix is the first hour of my set at L`Hibou in Dresden where I played on Dec 8th. My set time was 23:00 till 02:30. When I play these “warmup” slots for clubnights I always try to create an athmosphere which makes the dancers feel they can easily slip into the party and enter the dancefloor. For me it`s quite important to start slow and smoove and slowly enhance the vibe in the club. It is a bit like a good dinner. First comes the appetizer, then the starter, and you have to bring it to the main course, which might be the DJ after you or a headliner or whatever… How long have you been deejaying and how has it evolved […]...more0minPlay
December 14, 2012UV Podcast 009 – Scherbe liveHi Scherbe, could you please introduce yourself to our listeners? Hi my name is Sebastian aka Scherbe, I´m a house music producer and DJ from Karlsruhe/Germany. I moved to Dresden 3 years ago after finishing my examina in cultural sciences in Heidelberg. My musical style is deep and slow and shuffling with dirty beatz and lot of sampling. My first contact with housemusic from Dresden was via the Philpot and Running back releases of Dresden’s Break SL and Jacob Korn. This was just before I moved to Dresden and then surprisingly Uncanny Valley was founded and I knew from the beginning that I had to send them some trax of mine which led into my first release “Kill bill$” in spring on the UV010 EP…so thx for that! I also release music as Scherbe and Citizen Funk (project with my old school mate and Bigbait-Labelowner Peter Clamat) on the deephouse label Bigbait Records from Karlsruhe and sometimes working on leftfield electronic experiments with artist/designer Marek Slipek from Mannheim as “High memory Area”. How has the mix been recorded and what’s the idea behind it? The mix is actually a recording of my liveset from September 2012 at Altes Wettbüro/Dresden, one […]...more0minPlay
October 12, 2012UV Podcast 008 – TinyImagine yourself in one of the smallest bars under the soil of Dresden Neustadt: A cheap sound system, a tiny dance floor, maybe thirty or forty people, a smokers corner full of nicotine filled air, men and women standing around the dj booth trying to catch a look at the record being played. Yourself – waiting too long for the barkeeper to notice you have to have another beer, counting the coins left in your wallet. Someone’s pushing you from behind, you’re tapping your feet. What’s that record again? Heard it so often – just can’t remember the name. People begging for another hit. How old are they? The people around you? The records Tiny’s playing? You decide to go home after too many hours spent in this cave. Waking up the morning after… thinking: “… last night a DJ saved my life!” – this set was recorded with a little microphone at Koralle, Dresden 2012 – picture taken by Phuong Dan at Pudel Club, Hamburg m4a Version / iTunes mixcloud UV Podcast 008 – Tiny by Uncanny Valley on Mixcloud...more0minPlay
September 06, 2012UV Podcast 007 – Jacob StoyHi Jacob, could you please introduce yourself to our listeners? My name is Jacob Stoy. Originally, I come from a small town near Dresden but right now I live in Berlin. For several years I’ve been playing in various bands and made my own music just for myself at the beginning. Over the time I developed my skills and also could get some help through the numerous other producers from the Uncanny Valley camp. Earlier this year one of my songs was released on the Various Artists 010 compilation. That fact still amazes me and makes me proud. Right now I work on my own EP for Uncanny Valley which will be released in late 2012. How has the mix been recorded and what’s the idea behind it? The mix has been recorded at home with two no name turntables and a very basic 2-band equalizer mixer. I tried to play the tracks almost in their entire length because I think each musician or producer has also thought about the beginning and end of a song. Also, I’ve tried to include a slight change in tension over the legth of the mix as well as different genres. I don’t listen […]...more0minPlay
August 17, 2012UV Podcast 006 – Conrad KadenHi Conrad, could you please introduce yourself to our listeners? My name is Conrad Kaden. I’m in charge of the daily business of Uncanny Valley together with Carl, Albrecht and Philipp. I’m a passionate DJ and music lover but not really much interested in producing myself (at least not now) so I thought it might be a good idea to take care of all the necessary things behind the scene. How has the mix been recorded and what’s the idea behind it? It has been recorded at home during the last weeks with vinyl records and a few CDs where I couldn’t get hold of the records yet. I tried to capture the kind of feeling, which I often get when walking through the woods or lying in the grass somewhere. So it was only natural to start off with CVBox since he’s a passionate outdoor guy and I can feel this spirit in “Past the eclipse”. How long have you been deejaying and how has it evolved over the time? I started to deejay in 2001 but I think it took until 2005 when I started trying to mix records. In the beginning it was mostly Indie Rock music […]...more0minPlay

March 30, 2012UV Podcast 003 – Break SLDidili did did. Dididi did did do…UV Podcast 003 by Break SL is a pretty jazzy affair. Always deeply rooted in House music his choice of tracks stand out through that certain atmosphere somewhere inbetween serentiy and edginess. The same goes with his own productions which resulted in his latest EP for Uncanny Valley. The three tracks on the Desert Flight EP are as diverse as well conceived, covering emotional areas from an almost political approach to simply having fun with the machines. To accompany the release he recorded a charming and diverse mix for our Podcast series. Tracklist 01 Winterberg – Und Der Mond Scheint In Der Finsternis 02 The Soul Session – Desert Intro 03 Kenny Larkin – One Moment Please 04 Break SL – Desert Flight 05 The Soul Session – Horse With No Name (feat. If you haven’t checked out his latest EP “The Living Room Life” for Uncanny Valley, be sure to catch up on it. Meanwhile listen to this mix that is Credit 00 to the core. His deep love for analogue gear is reflected in every sound. Drones and Bleeps everywhere, but always hard rocking. Dirty electronic music by true allies like Legowelt, J.T.C. or Reel By Real. October 18, 2011UV Podcast 001 – CutheadHey Halleluhjah. The UV-Podcast Series ist about to begin. And what better way to start the label’s love affair than with a mix so diverse as their releases. At first, none other than Cuthead is at the controls. So, what he delivers is Cuthead-style to the core. The fact that he is a great DJ is nothing new to Dresden locals as pretty much every dance music lover at the valley was dancing at least once at one of those legendary Kunst:Stoff Breakz parties which he threw together with a bunch of friends until the police got in their way. In the mix Cuthead shares a little bit of that Everyhting-Goes-vibe, including Hip-Hop and Nujazz cuts as well as a serious Tropicalia excursion. But those who only know him for his sophisticated House music won’t be disappointed either, as you’ll discover a lot of gems in here. And pssst… there’s even some new Cuthead material, soon to be released on Uncanny Valley. Tracklist 01 koop – tonight 02 the greg foat group – hello old friend 03 Maurizio – M7 unreleased mix 04 Joyce Muniz – Bedstories Cosmin TRG Remix 05 Ben westbeech – summers loss (cuthead edit) 06 MCDE […]...more0minPlay
