  • UV Podcast 016 – Max Rademann
Merry Christmas everybody from the heart of the valley! Here is our little gift for you. After contributing his voice, organ skills and cheerfulness to our Christmas Record “Haisel Stieht” we asked Dresden’s everyday life-philosopher and all around good guy Max Rademann to delight us with a podcast. Not only does he look like Santa Claus in his Thirties, he’s also got a bag full of heart warming and soulful records on his shelves. So straight from the Erzgebirge (where Max comes from) we received the soundtrack for lighting our incense cones (which is the right way to get into Christmas mood, Saxony style). His podcast is a ride through lots of laid back Soul songs and some Hip-Hop joints with some splendid sonic detours along its way. So have a good time with your family and friends! See you in 2014! // unfortunately there is no Soundcloud available this time – too many great gems for them

  • UV Funk 017: New Zealand Special with Gunnar
Music from New Zealand sounds like Dub and Reggae? Well, that’s not totally wrong. At least there are a lot of bands on the Kiwi Islands dropping laid back vibes und doing it the smooth way. But there was also a huge Indie and Rock scene with bands like Split Enz, The Chills and the outshining label Flying Nun Records. Not to mention the exciting Fusion scene and those Psychedelic bands from The Sixties. You see, there is a lot to discover. So have fun with Edition Nr. 17 which shows an impression of how NZ can sound: Listen to Lord Echo, Fat Freddys Drop and the Black seeds, just to name a few . And Welcome Gunnar! He is UV Funk’s first time co-host, that will join Philipp also in future editions from time time.

  • UV Funk 016: The Big Men Restless (Lunatic / Blackred)
There is so much good music in Leipzig nowadays. Two of those interesting label projects are Lunatic and Blackred, both researching the fields in between Science Fiction and Bass. Lunatic strikes attention more on the Techno side of things while the records on Blackred are just right for lovers of dark Electro. But in the end you’ll get proper electronic music you can dance to on both labels. Our good friends Credit 00 and CVBox also contributed to the label’s catalogue.
So it was a great opportunity to get two of the many heads behind the labels into the studio when they’ve been in Dresden lately. The Big Men Restless aka Rekorder and Alex Usunov and they provided us with a great mix through their sonic world. Plus, they talked a bit about Lunatic and Blackred.

  • UV Podcast 015 – Credit 00
Hi, could you please introduce yourself to our listeners? Hey! My name is Alexander Dorn and I make visual & audible artworks. How has the mix been recorded and what’s the idea behind it? Recorded with two turntables & one pain in the ass cd player, fortunately just had to to play 3 CD’s of unreleased material. No particular idea behind it, just went mad with some tunes I like.   How long have you been deejaying/playing live and how has it evolved over the time? Don’t know exactly, maybe since 2003 or somthing. I wasted all my time since then buying records, organizing parties and annoying my neighbors.   Is there a record that triggered your interest in electronic music and brought you to deejaying/producing? One? are u kidding me? there is too many to name but all the detroit stuff made me buying 12″s which are supposed to be mixed, before that I was only buying albums for home listening. here is one example: What do your parents think about what you do? My parents support me with everything I do but most of the times when I play them my music, they tell me to turn down […]

  • UV Podcast 014 – CVBox
Hi, could you please introduce yourself to our listeners? My artist name is CVBox and I am listening to electronic music since I was a little child. My parents introduced me to artists like Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre and Klaus Schulze. This gave me the initial kick which lasts till today. Also I’ve listened a lot to DT64 (a radio station from the GDR which was on air till 1993) where I’ve discovered artists like “The Future Sound Of London” and then bought myself the first records. A friend of mine introduced me to DJing and together we’ve organized parties back in the days. I’ve gained love for making analog music when a friend of mine lent me his machines (or more like stored it temporarily at my place). Ever since these experiments I am doing with my machines let me explore new worlds every day. How has the mix been recorded and what’s the idea behind it? At first I thought about re-recording a set which I’ve played at a party. But while remembering the list of tracks there came some more ideas to my mind. So I’ve recorded a new one on the fly at home: it’s freestyle. […]

  • UV Funk 015: Movie Special
No doubt – there has been a strong connection between movies and the world of electronic or rhythm based music. Just think of John Carpenter or the Goblin‘s work Dario Argento. Not to mention those musicians who tend to write music for movies just for the fun of it. Fot the UV Funk show in June Philipp picked some movie related songs out of his collection and made a mix out of it.
