  • UV Podcast 022 – Disco Møreti
Hi Pepi, what’s up with the Czech underground? Is Brno a good place for electronic and Disco music lovers? I have to explain: I used to live in Brno for ten years but moved to Prague  2 years ago. Both cities got someting to offer to electronic music fans. There are few promoter groups in underground house and techno music scene who are respecting and supporting each other and so there is always something to go to when it comes to weekend nightlife. You have been deejaying since 2001. How has it evolved over the years? Back in the days Techno from Birmingham, Slovakia, Sweden or Japan came in the first place for  me.  Later I liked labels such as Kanzleramt, Neue Heimat, discovered and felt in love with dozens of Detroit’s producers. After that I was totally enjoying sound revolution around clicks’n’cuts and minimal house/techno. On the other side I liked the chillout scene all the time. Compost records, English broken beats, downtempo from Vienna, disco, funk, soul, deephouse… I both enjoy massive sound parties where you can hit the ground running and all night long bar selector trips through universes without beats. You played alongside some wellknown and maybe not so known DJs. Who inspired you the most? There are really lots of them and they […]

  • UV Funk 025: West & East Africa 1927 - 2013 w/ Albrecht Wassersleben
    follow Albrecht @a-w-1
This time Albrecht takes us on a journey from West to East Africa and back in the times between 1927 and 2013. Starting with early recordings from 1927 made in London of West African musicians we explore traditional folk music. Going further with recordings from Kenya & Uganda we can hear the developing of recording qualities in the 30's and 40's. With the spreading of radio broadcasting and cultural influences from more and more foreign countries we are experiencing the Latinization of West Africa. Stepping into the 60's and 70's Rock'n'Roll and Funk is taking over the hearts of musicians from The Congo. Getting a sense where the music is developing till the early 80's we're doing a jump to the present. Here we can hear electronic influences and a more modern approach. The last three tracks are recordings made in 2011 in a small village in West Africa while the very last track shows Sven Kacirek combining them with contemporary music production. (For more 80's and 90's African Music check our other Afro Funk Special).

  • UV Podcast 020 – Break SL
‘Atlantic Ocean Road’, your third solo EP on  Uncanny Valley, is in stores. As a member of the Uncanny Valley family since the very beginning, do you still get inspired by the many artists from the imprint you’re surrounded by? Definitely, i constantly receive inspiration. Jacob Korn, Sneaker & Steve Kasper have their studios in the same building as I have. So there is always a certain interaction. Recently I realized some projects with Credit 00 and last month Jacob Stoy came over for a session. But of course there are also friendships and relationships beyond the music, which can be very inspiring, positive and negative. Some of your collaborators can refer to a hip hop background. What are your main influences? As a child i was always fascinated by music without vocals. Meanwhile, this opinion changed a little bit, but i have to say that there is and was always a certain connection to electronic music. My mother gave me some of her mix tapes and samplers, where she recorded Techno and House Tracks. Coming from a small town I used all the media I could get my hands on, like “VIVA Zwei” (RIP) with their incredible versatile music selection, […]
