Starting a podcast is an undertaking. It's easy to get in your head, but if you're authentic in your delivery and aligned with how the podcast supports your business, it can really be a fantastic way to share your expertise and build connections.
Today, I am celebrating my 100th podcast episode. I asked my friend Dr. Amanda Crowell, cognitive psychologist and business coach, to interview me about my experience thus far and what I hope for the future. I'm sharing how a podcast can help expand your business and your network, how my episodes have evolved, and advice that will help you if you're just starting out with a podcast of your own.
Just know that there are people who want to hear what you have to say. Your podcast will land for the people who are supposed to hear it. Don't let fears and worries stop you from starting. I didn't know what to expect when I first set out on this journey, but I can tell you this: it is a rewarding experience.
What you'll find in this episode:
- Why I started my podcast
- How podcasting is different from other forms of communication
- How podcasting is a wonderful way to connect with like-minded people
- The importance of being thoughtful about what you share in your podcast
- What I have found surprising about starting a podcast
- How experiences and situations in your business (e.g. listener emails, client sessions) can serve as topic ideas
- How I plan for my episodes while still keeping them conversational
- My advice for someone starting out with a new podcast
- How a podcast can help expand your network
- What I'm most excited about moving forward
- How being a guest on a podcast is a good way to test the waters
