Episode 4 – Coming Home

 Moving forward from the financial ruins, the family buys a new home.  Ian comes home for a long vacation from church camp.  Ian spends time looking for a new direction in his life.  Ian wants to be a police officer.  He takes a test along with physical tryouts and is accepted in a police academy.  The stories of his various interviews and the tryouts are entertaining.

 Ian is starting the academy and something comes back to haunt him.  His cancer is back – again.

 The camp friends find the mole and now we start this all over.  The academy says they will welcome him back when he recovers.

Episode 2 –Camping Full Time

Church camp life is starting to agree with Ian.  Turning 21, budding friendships with both male buddies and female – well buddies/with benefits?.!.  He is now working at two different camps that are under the same religion and area council.  He’s driving two and a half hours from one to the other, fixing septic tanks, working with farm animals and still being a counselor for the various visitors (young and old) at the camps.  SNOW – yes plowing snow is a new experience for Ian.

 Gideon is pictured on the Podcast Logo on the bottom right.  That was his goat.  He loved that goat.

 He also had several very good friends including the head cook.  She keeps him well fed since he is burning all kinds of calories.  (This cook recently passed)

 This is a great episode to hear what Ian was really made of… stamina and great direction in his life.  He really is a great kid!

Ian ends up with a very bad case of Melanoma along with a surgery at UCLA Medical by a well-known surgical dermatologist.  There were radioactive isotopes involved to trace the blood flow to see which lymph nodes needed to be removed and tested.  He ended up with about a dozen lymph nodes removed from his arm pit.

 Ian starts work regularly at the church camp and succeeds in both his work and his mental growth with this horrible disease.  Using this work at church camp as a place of reflection for his own life he really matures.  He even has a situation with an inner city youth that changes both of their lives.

Episode One - It Begins

 This is a series of the life of Ian Lucas and his struggles after he is diagnosed with Melanoma on his Arm.

 The first episode brings a summary of the life of Ian until his diagnoses and how life will change for Ian and our family.

 There is a caricature of Ian in the middle of the Podcast Logo.  From baseball, paintball and being involved with the youth group at our church Ian was doing what a good youth does, enjoy growing up.

 Ian ends up starting to work with a church camp in the local mountains during the summer vacation.  Ian was off the grid at the camp.  This was his true calling, enjoying nature and teaching youth about God.  One summer in the mountains and what a change.  He grew up and matured quickly.

 Our family ends up in financial ruins from the great recession of 2009.  Unemployment really affected every aspect of our family.

 Ian becomes really interested in working at the church camp full-time until that blood blister changes to that horrible word.  CANCER.
