Under the Ring Report

This week we talk about our experience trying to get tickets for the ALL IN event and how Tom’s wife was able to save the day for us. Then we discuss the Starrcast event and the people we are looking forward to seeing during the Labor Day weekend event. And we finish up the show talking about why we think events like this and alternatives to WWE are doing so well and why we sometimes enjoy them more than the mainstream product.

This week we look back on another strange gimmick given to a six-time World Champion and twelve-time World tag Champion. In 1991 the powers that be in WCW thought it would be a good idea to dress Keven Nash up as Oz from the Wizard of Oz, and this week we discuss how crazy this gimmick was and try to figure out why they thought it was a good idea.

This week we discuss the goldmine in many people’s backyard that is independent wrestling. I  took my wife, who is not a wrestling fan, to the ACW Watercity Wrestlecon 2018 in Oshkosh, WI this past weekend and she had a blast.  So this week I talk with her about why she had fun and if she would do it again. Plus Tom talks about some of the different shows that happen around him and why we prefer going to independent shows to the big guys. We even find time to talk about Impact Wrestling’s new champion. Thanks for joining us.

Wrestlemania weekend is over and somehow we survived all the great wrestling shows. This week we discuss our thoughts on ROH Supercard of Honor, NXT Takeover and the granddaddy of them all Wrestlemania. We talk about what we liked and what we didn’t like about the shows and some of things we wish would have happened. It’s over so the countdown to next year had started.

It’s the final week before Wrestlemania and we’re finishing up the hype with our favorite Wrestlemania matches of all-time. We have a few special guests this week to talk about their favorite matches too . Plus memories of performing at Wrestlemania with Harley Race, Brian Blair, Nikolai Volkoff, and more. We finishing it up with predictions for the big show with all of our guests and the results of our twitter polls and a special Wrestlemania Hot Tag segment. Happy Wrestlemania to all.

As Wrestlemania gets closer, now is a good time to take a look at our Top 5 Wrestlemanias of all time. Tom and I compare our lists and discuss why the shows deserve to be ranked where they are. We also have a special guest as Scary Fn Terry gives us his favorite show and why one Wrestlemania has such a sentimental appeal to him. Enjoy as we look back and we have a new “Hot Tag” segment as we focus on Wrestlemania.

This week Tom and I have to come to terms with the idea that we both might finally cheer for Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania. I think the new phrase should be anyone but Lesnar, so this could be a career defining moment for Roman Reigns. We discuss how WWE is portraying Reigns at this time and why it just feels different than how they have pushed him in the past. This could be the breakout match he really needs to be on the same level as Cena. Plus the debut of our new segment, The Hot Tag. Enjoy this weeks show.

It seems strange to put a mask on one of the most popular figures in pro wrestling and pretend like you have no clue who it is. If this sounds like a TNA storyline, think again. Mr America was a WWE creation in 2003, and it was Hulk Hogan wearing a mask and being know as Mr America. Sounds pretty dumb, well Tom and I discuss this strange storyline this week during our new montly segment Under the Gimmick.

This week it’s all about the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman. Tom and I talk about how far he has come with his character and how most fans in the WWE would love to see him become the new WWE Universal Champion at Wrestlemania. We cover everything we have loved since he’s made the jump to RAW and would WWE be better if Strowman was the face of the company instead of Reigns. Enjoy this weeks show.

It’s been a little over a year since we lost WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka and we’d like to revisit an interview we conducted with him in February of 2000. We talked about how he got started in the business and some of his greatest feuds and the one venue he loved to perform at. Plus he talked about making an appearance on WCW Nitro and jumping from the top of cage in January of 2000. Sit back and enjoy a legend talking about his career and how humble he was when we talked about him being the founder of high flying.
