Just Say No!
That's right, we only have a limited amount of time and multiple demands. Which ones are you passionate about? What aligns with what you want to do? Prioritize that and work on saying no to the other things.
Listen to my success story of saying no!
I had a such a great time talking with M from Reflections of a Millennial Doctor. She has a blog and instagram where she discusses experiences in medicine. We talked about so many things from her career path, burnout, drive, the business of medicine and more. Enjoy my first time hosting a podcast interview. I look forward to more and I hope to have M on the podcast again.

What is something you enjoy? I have so many hobbies. Heck, this podcast is a hobby. Though, scuba diving, mountain biking, and skiing are probably my three favorite activities of all time. There are of course many others. I also have professional interests and a passion for living a full life as a physician.
Why do I talk about all of those? We have a lot of demands on our time and when was the last time you did something for yourself? Something you wanted to do for your own rest and relaxation? That is exactly what this podcast is about today.
Listen. Enjoy. And Apply!

Leadership within medicine is something that I believe is truly underrated. We are not taught how to be leaders in medical school... instead the system is great at making followers.
However, as physicians we are leaders and we lead multiple teams. This podcast I discuss the three leadership competencies outlined by Retired General Mark Hertling in the book "Growing Physician Leaders." I am currently studying this book and it is a fantastic read. This is the first of many episodes to come discussing things that I have learned in this book.
The three competencies are to lead, to develop, and to achieve. Listen for a breakdown of these three competencies in our leadership as physicians.
Today we are getting personal with my own experiences of burnout through medical school. Thankfully, I was able to rely on mountain biking to save my mental sanity. Mountain biking provided me with an escape that left me refreshed and able to study better. I have continued to mountain bike through the rest of my training. Additionally, I used Zwift when unable to bike outside.
Find something you enjoy! Use it as a mental refresher!

MedBikini has taken the medical social media world by storm.
The trouble goes deeper than the bikini. The unity of the medical world has been amazing and now it is time to speak up as physicians. It is time we share our narratives and help defend our patients and career.
Join me on this surprise episode (more will be coming along but due to MedBikini I rushed this out) and subscribe to follow along while we discover the things underrated in medicine.
Have you felt like there were things underrated in medicine?
I was told prior to the start of medical school that "happiness is vastly underrated in medicine." I had to learn that for myself but it opened my eyes and prepared me to learn. It also prepared me to identify other things "underrated in medicine."
This podcast is to raise awareness for those things that we have neglected either in the practice of medicine or the practice of life outside of medicine.
