Undetermined: The Podcast

Steve Tulipana is one busy guy! Prolific musician (singer, guitarist, bassist best known for his work as front-man for Kansas City's Season to Risk); entrepreneur (co-owner of Kansas City's recordBar, miniBar, and Lemonade Park); and more other stuff than we'd even know how to list here. He's legitimately an institution in KC and we're a little embarrassed that we've taken this long to have him on!

Steve was gracious enough to share some of his stories and fill us in on the MANY amazing shows and projects both past and present (and future!)  Don't let the humility fool you...this guy's a bad ass! So honored to have him join us. Welcome to the Dandy McCandy family Steve!

If you're like us, you likely suffer from a lack of quality sci-fi/metal/opera projects to kick back with. Fear not Dandies! UTP's got you covered!

Shane 13 and Ben White (you know...the killer axe slinger from Godzillionaire and Vedettes) blew our minds giving us the low down on their inspired offering "They Watch Us From the Moon." These guys are as fun as they are talented and if you aren't itching to check out their live shows after hearing this episode, we question your sanity. (To be fair...we kinda question Shane's sanity already.)

UFO conspiracies...archaic drug/alcohol laws...artistic exploration...this episode has a broad range of great conversation. We loved it! So glad to know these guys are out there doing what they do!

Pump up your spacesuits, kids! Monty Colvin is one talented dude. From playing bass for the massively underappreciated band Galactic Cowboys and his solo project Crunchy, to hosting his own podcast, to creating some truly amazing art and hosting his own heavy metal art show (how cool is that??), Monty's done some pretty amazing things in his life.

Who wouldn't want to hear about touring with Anthrax, selling art to Rick Nielsen, or getting on Jimmy Swaggart's bad side?? (The guy's even cousins with Dee Dee Ramone!) We had a blast getting to know Monty and can't wait to see what's to come! Welcome to the family, Monty!

Drummer Dave Hingerty explains the idea behind this awesome project!

We're so excited about this one!

Dave is a multi-genre artist (drums...photography...awesomeness....) with some incredible talent and a long list of amazing artists he has worked with through his career. He's also the founder of the Side 4 Collective which invites musicians across a wide spectrum to create music with a collection of Dave's drum riffs as a starting point. (It's REALLY cool!)

We were so thrilled to have Dave join us and discuss his artistic and human journey as well as give us the scoop on the Side 4 Collective.

Thanks, Dave!

PS - Any of our friends who might be interested in participating in Side 4 should drop us a line at [email protected]. (We'd be glad to pass the word along!)

Jon and Matt continue their conversation with this fascinating individual.

Dick Valentine is one of those guests who just embodies what UTP is all about. We never know where we are going, but we always have a great time getting there! From lyrics inspired at a Missouri truck stop, to Christopher Walken, to Whitesnake, to Micheal Bolton...you'll just have to listen. Already looking forward to next time. Thanks, Dick!

John Murry marches to the beat of his own drum (which is expertly provided by the incredible Johnny Boyle!) and we couldn't love him more for it. John's an amazing musician with a unique voice in every manner. He's also got some fascinating perspectives, and a great sense of humor. We could seriously talk to this guy for hours and can't wait to have him back on! Welcome to the family, John! (And thank you for the introduction, Johnny B!)

Scott and his band have been blowing minds in Lawrence, KS for years! (We're a little embarrassed that it took so long for us to have him on). The guy is fierce with a six-string and a mic! (Really, the whole band is amazing.)  Seriously...if you haven't checked out The Mad Kings, do yourself a huge favor and give 'em a listen.

We had a great time getting to know this truly interesting guy and are thrilled to have the Mad Kings join the Dandy McCandy family.

P.S. - Have we mentioned that the Mad Kings rock??
