In the spring of 1916, three young children from the village of Aljustrel in western Portugal claimed to see the Virgin Mary while out tending sheep in a nearby pasture. 

The incident marked the beginning of what is now known as the Fatima Prophecies.

In 1951, 67-year-old Mary Reeser moved down from Columbia, Pennsylvania to Florida to be closer to her son and grandchildren.

In the late 1940s, Italian sculptor Amilcare Santini was commissioned to make a statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to use as a model for mass production. 

Little did he know, that it would become just about the most famous depiction of the Immaculate Heart ever created.
