In today's episode, I talk about the 6 most important lessons I learned in 2023, that I'm carrying with me into 2024. I share why they were important, I talk about how they changed me, and as I share these lessons with you, I encourage you to adopt them as well and make them your own.
1. Do hard things.
2. Honor your body.
3. Invest in yourself.
4. You get your standards, not your goals.
5. You are one "something" away from a completely different life.
6. Everything is right now.

Today I am talking to Amy Traugh. Amy is a business strategist, the host of the Motivated CEO Podcast, and the founder of the Moms on a Mission Community. She has created a signature CEO framework which she uses to help entrepreneurs and business owners - especially those who are service providers - to generate the consistent sales they want so they can create the impact they desire without sacrificing their two most valuable assets: time and energy.
In this conversation, we talk about Amy’s shift from a career in the medical field to stepping into becoming an entrepreneur as a mom of two young kids looking for more freedom and flexibility. We talk about the shifts that she made within her entrepreneurial journey to ultimately find a business that was aligned with her passion and her purpose.
Through the process of building her own businesses, Amy discovered how much she loved the back-end parts of business building and what goes into really creating and building a solid business.
We talk about the importance of honoring yourself and what’s important to YOU when building a business and not just setting goals that we see other people setting because they seem to be working for someone else. We talk about the importance of community and networking and building intentional relationships.
While this conversation is really geared toward those of you who are entrepreneurs or aspiring entrepreneurs, you are going to learn so much in this conversation, even if you’re not trying to build a business. And if you ARE in the process of building a business or wanting to build a business, you can connect with Amy below:

I found myself driving home one night recently through some very thick fog. It forced me to drive slower than normal and to really pay attention to what I could see in front of and around me, and it was very disorienting at times. Driving through this fog reminded me of a season I had found myself in earlier this year where I felt like the road ahead of me was very unclear. I felt like the path I was headed down was hazy and disorienting. And it forced me to slow down and navigate the journey with a lot more intentionality. It also gave me an opportunity to really lean into my own internal clarity, since everything externally and everything outside of me felt very unclear. It allowed me to lean into my own intuition and to trust that even when I couldn't see very far down the road in front of me, that the road was still there, and that the further I moved down the road, the more of the road I would be able to see. And that, ultimately, even when there was little external clarity in the journey ahead, that I could still trust in my own internal clarity to remind me of where I was going.

All too often I've heard people in the personal development space spreading this narrative that the purpose of going through a healing journey is so that you can walk other people through their healing journeys. So that you can help other people find their way through a dark path or a challenging situation.
The problem with this mindset of making other people the focus of our own healing is that we actually end up bypassing our own healing. By making other people the focus of our journeys, we prevent ourselves from going deep enough within ourselves to do the real work. We bypass vulnerability and connection. We skip over the actual work necessary to truly heal.
And while it is true that we are often called to show others the way once we've gone the way, ourselves, that should never be the purpose or intention of our journey. We can't show other people the way if we haven't truly gone the way first for ourselves.

Today's message is something that has just been on my heart to share... it's ok if your holidays look a little different this year. Maybe your family dynamics have changed. Maybe your kids are getting older. Maybe finances aren't what they were last year. It's ok to let go of certain holiday traditions if they are no longer serving you. It's ok to adapt the holidays to fit whatever season you're currently in. It's ok to embrace whatever season you're in and to enjoy it for what it is.
For those of you who celebrate holidays this time of the year, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Holidays.

IT’S EPISODE 100!!!
For this super special episode, I brought my two favorite people on the podcast – my kids, Olivia and Elias! And they interview ME!
We talked about a huge range of different things – they asked about parenting, podcasting, speaking on stages, confidence, burnout, and favorite memories. We talked about goals, the Enneagram, favorite foods, favorite classes in school, the color green, and how to weigh an airplane without a scale....?
And I just want to thank every single one of you who follow, who listen, and who reach out to me on IG and share your takeaways! I love getting to connect with you and learning more about those of you who check in. It’s an honor to continue to serve you – thank you so much for listening!

The other day, my closet rack collapsed. And as I was picking up all my clothes from the floor, finding a new place to hang everything, I noticed I actually no longer needed most of the things that had been weighing on the closet rack. Had I gotten rid of them or moved them when they stopped serving their purpose, the closet probably wouldn't have broken down.
So the lesson I share today is that it might be time to take inventory of the things in your life and get rid of what is no longer serving you... to avoid a total breakdown or collapse or burnout. Things like mindsets, habits, relationships, and yes, even material possessions. I point out three distinct categories of things that you should eliminate:

If you're an ambitious working mama, navigating the complexities of trying to be present with your family while also building a career you enjoy, today's episode is for you! In this episode, I talk to Katie Dragos, a community builder, working mama, wife, and entrepreneur. Katie shares her journey of finding herself longing for a community of like-minded ambitious women early in motherhood, but not knowing where to find it. So she created it!
We talk about the importance of relationships, mentorship, and community. Katie shares her strategy of cultivating intentional "tent poles" of support to lean on in the different areas of our lives. We talk about understanding the roles that different relationships play in our lives and how to maintain appropriate expectations in these relationships so they don't get burned out or lead to resentment.
We also dig into the role that the intentional mindset work has played in allowing Katie to fully be present in the busy and challenging seasons of motherhood, and how she's managed to find harmony between being a mom, being an entrepreneur, and simultaneously being invested in a career she truly loves, as well as some of the sacrifices that have had to happen along the journey.
You're truly going to love this conversation and Katie's heart for supporting ambitious moms and caregivers!

Not too long ago, I found myself feeling a little bored with all the podcasts I was listening to, all the coaches and experts I was following, all the books I was reading, and all the content I was consuming. I was starting to feel like it all sounded the same and like I already knew it all. Everything felt redundant, and, as much as I hate to admit it, I felt like I was "beyond" it all. Like I'd already learned it all. Like I needed something more.
But on a cognitive level, I knew these people I was following had something they could teach me. Because their lives and their businesses were so far beyond where I was. But I couldn't get over the feelings of boredom and redundancy. So I turned everyone off for a little while.
Not too long after, though, as I started to step into bigger things and expand in my business and in my life, I started returning to all the voices I had silenced, hoping maybe they'd "up-leveled" their messages... (hello ego, amirite? LOL) And what I found when I did that was that the things I was initially finding myself bored with and the things that had started sounding redundant, were suddenly hitting me in a new and different way. What I realized is that sometimes you don't need new strategies and new tactics and new mindset tips... sometimes, you need to apply what you've already learned in newer, bigger ways.
The problem wasn't the content I was consuming. The problem was me. I had let myself get stuck. When I pushed myself to grow, the ways I was able to apply the things I was learned grew right along with me.

This is Part 2 of a 2-Part "mini-series". You can hear Part 1 in Episode 94. Today's episode is the "Mindset" episode where I get detailed on the mindset practices that are an intentional part of the journaling practice that makes up The 30-Day Purpose Journal (you can get a copy below).
This is where I share the very intentional journaling prompts that you can utilize every single morning and every night before you go to bed. I include everything from affirmations and a gratitude practice, to setting daily intentions and steps to reach your goals. I discuss the importance of reflecting on both the positive and negative parts of your day, celebrating your progress, and the importance of play, even as an adult!
You can purchase the full journal on Amazon or you can download a free copy of the one-week version of the journal below. Or you can grab a pen and a notebook and take notes in this episode because I literally give you all the daily prompts right here.
